AMC Theatres, a movie theatre chain in the United States, has upgraded its mobile app to accept payments in Dogecoin (DOGE), Shibu Inu (SHIB), and other cryptocurrencies.
In a tweet on Jan. 6, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron informed fans that the meme tokens DOGE and SHIB will be featured by March. Aron’s crew came through, although a bit late.
AMC Theatre enters the crypto realm
AMC Theaters started accepting cryptocurrency payments on November 12, 2021, enabling consumers to buy movie tickets online using Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Litecoin (LTC) (LTC).
According to the press release, owing to a collaboration with BitPay, a bitcoin payment service provider, AMC Theatres’ Android, and iOS mobile apps will be able to accept cryptocurrency payments.
The identities of the four newly supported cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, are still being kept under wraps. Customers in the United States must download the most recent version of the mobile app to access the capability.
Adam Aron made the announcement through Twitter, confirming the rumors.
Nium, a Singapore-based cross-border payments service, has partnered with BitPay to create an API-based solution that allows businesses to begin taking crypto payments, starting with BTC and ETH.
BitPay converts crypto payments and sends them to merchants’ accounts in US dollars or other fiat currencies the following working day.
Growing meme coins
Experts believe Dogecoin’s success stems in part from Elon Musk’s backing, which he frequently expresses on Twitter. Unfortunately, the Shiba Inu currency lacks such a champion, and given that it is described as a “Dogecoin killer,” it is unlikely to get backing from the multibillionaire anytime soon.
On the other hand, the Shiba Inu currency has a finite quantity of one quadrillion tokens. Although this large number could easily absorb an army of investors, it is still a limited amount that might help fuel future speculation.
Speculation and market capitalization are the keys to Shiba Inu’s future prosperity, and Shiba has the potential to become the next Dogecoin.
Memecoins are at their peak of popularity. Shiba Inu seems to be gaining so much traction and popularity. With its latest listing on Robinhood and the release of its SHIB metaverse, the SHIB community appears to be stronger than before.
