CIA Rolls Out In-House R&D Platform To Probe Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology has procured the attention of many prominent players in different industries. Almost every industry has already incorporated or in the process of including blockchain technology into its systems. The United States’ Central Intelligence Agency [CIA] is the latest addition to the list.

New R&D Unit Of CIA To Probe Blockchain Tech

Earlier on Monday, the CIA released an announcement revealing its latest platform, the CIA Labs. The agency’s latest venture intends to unify private sectors and academia with officers in the CIA to formulate science and technology solutions. These solutions will further be employed in the work and missions of the CIA.

The CIA unveiled its latest venture on Twitter and the tweet read,

The operations of CIA Labs will reportedly include, testing, research, development as well as engineering in different disciplines. While the CIA aims to probe different sectors through its lastest platform, blockchain-enabled technologies/ distributed ledger happens to be one of the many.  The other industries in the list include virtual and augmented reality, quantum computing, robotic, human interface systems, bioscience as well as for biotechnology, among several others.

Highlighting the goals of the latest platform, the CIA wrote,

“CIA Labs conducts multidisciplinary research, development, testing, and engineering to address new challenges; adapt, improve, or accelerate the production of existing solutions; and solve persistent scientific and technological problems in new ways.”

Furthermore, CIA Labs isn’t limited to the agency only as the public can also participate in the platform. The announcement revealed that CIA Labs was open to collaboration. Members of different federal labs and academia were welcomed to partner with CIA’s latest venture. Those interested in the same were required to fill a form elaborating on the ideas for the potential partnership.
