CoinShares

CoinShares entered Europe’s €26.3 trillion UCITS market on Tuesday with a regulated Bitcoin mining ETF. The launch gives more institutions access through a regulated investment framework. Trading began on Deutsche Börse Xetra the same day.

The digital asset manager also developed a UCITS platform for its future funds. This structure is extensively utilized in Europe. It allows the development of regulated products, which satisfy most institutional investment requirements.

How CoinShares Expands Access for European Institutions

According to CoinShares, the newly introduced structure addresses pension funds, insurance companies, and private banks. The mandate of such entities normally involves using UCITS-compliant structures. Therefore, they were not able to invest in certain company products.

Most of the institution’s mandate prohibits debt securities, which include physically backed digital asset products. As a result, their investments were limited even though the interest was increasing. Using the UCITS structure eliminates such structural issues for qualified investors.

The first product is the Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF. It allows investing in the Bitcoin mining sector. The structure is based on the regulated vehicle known to many European institutions.

Chief Executive Jean-Marie Mognetti called the launch more than just another product release. “It marks our entry into the UCITS market,” he said. He also cited the framework’s recognition in regulated markets.

CoinShares created the platform in an effort to make future launches more efficient. The construction reduces the necessity to incur significant expenses for operations. Future products might be about digital assets and the relevant investment themes.

CoinShares Builds UCITS Expansion After Nasdaq Debut

This expansion comes after the company’s listing on Nasdaq in April. CoinShares reported revenues for 2025 exceeding $165.7 million. This information was provided in its first annual report after its listing in the United States.

Its shares listed on Nasdaq closed monday at $4.11. In addition, they were down by 2.1%. The press release came after the drop, while the company maintained its stated European expansion plans.

CoinShares has entered the UCITS market with one fund being active. The company uses this platform as a basis for further launches. Every product will utilize the same regulation and transferability of the investment.

What Comes Next for CoinShares in the UCITS Market

The company strives to access institutions that need policy-compliant fund vehicles. Thus, it increases its access to potential clients without adopting another core strategy. Instead, the company changes the legal wrapper used for distribution.

CoinShares has not provided any dates for future products. According to the company, future launches might feature other digital assets. Currently, its Bitcoin mining ETF is the only active fund of the UCITS market.
