Chainlink (LINK) is approaching key descending resistance after defending the $11.33 support level. A confirmed breakout above $11.70–$11.80 could open the path toward $12.50, while rising trading activity and open interest support the recovery setup despite signs of weakening momentum.

The LINK price drew market attention on Sunday, August 30, 2026, as Chainlink approached a descending resistance line after holding its recent support zone. Traders remained focused on whether the emerging breakout attempt could gain confirmation.

As of writing, Chainlink (LINK) is trading at $11.64, representing an increase of 2.49% in the past day. The 24-hour trading volume is currently standing at 219.37 million, with a market capitalization of $8.71 billion. Over the last week, the token has gained 0.88%, according to CoinMarketCap.

Crypto analyst Cryptorphic noted that LINK had returned to its descending trendline after holding the $11.33 support. The $11.70–$11.80 range now represents the main resistance zone for the LINK price recovery.

A confirmed breakout above this range could push the LINK price toward $11.98. Sustained buying pressure could then bring the $12.50 target into focus. However, analysts stressed that confirmation is necessary before expecting further gains.

If LINK fails to clear the trendline, selling pressure could return. Another rejection may send the token back toward the $11.33 support. Holding this level would remain essential for protecting the current market structure.

Moreover, another analyst, Alpha Crypto Signal, mentioned that LINK has started breaking out of a descending triangle after repeatedly defending its horizontal support zone.

The move above the falling trendline suggested that selling pressure was weakening as buyers regained control.

A sustained hold above the breakout zone would provide stronger confirmation of the bullish pattern. It could also create room for LINK to begin another upward move.

The analyst favored a long position only after a confirmed breakout or a successful retest of the former resistance level.

CoinGlass data shows that the future volume is rising 24.02% to $327.28 million. Open interest also advanced 3.81% to $646.26 million.

The OI-weighted funding rate stood at 0.0076%. This figure indicated that long-position holders were paying short-position holders.

How RSI and MACD Reflect LINK’s Weakening Momentum

According to TradingView, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) reads at 68.94, whereas its moving average is at 75.29. The RSI remained below the 70 level of overbought condition, showing strong buying pressure despite cooling from its recent peak.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line remained above the signal line, at 0.813 and 0.777, respectively. The histogram also remained positive at 0.036. However, its shrinking bars indicated that bullish momentum is gradually weakening.

The immediate LINK price outlook hinges on the confirmation of a breakout above resistance. Failure to sustain prices above the breakout area may force LINK to move towards the $11.33 support level.
