SOL Price

The SOL price remained below a key resistance zone on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while analysts tracked a possible breakout and two Solana governance proposals outlined changes to the network’s long-term inflation schedule and token supply.

As of writing, Solana (SOL) is trading at $74.05, marking an increase of 0.88% in a day. The 24-hour trading volume is standing at $1.6 billion, with a market capitalization of $43.04 billion. Over the last week, the SOL price has gone up by 0.51%, according to CoinMarketCap.

How the $75 Level Could Shift SOL Price Momentum

Analyst Crypto With Gopal highlighted that the SOL price formed a rising wedge on the one-hour chart. The pattern developed as the token moved between ascending support and overhead resistance. Buyers continued to defend the rising trendline beneath the market.

The analyst said a strong move above $75 could invalidate the bearish formation. Such a breakout could also restore upward momentum. Bulls would need a decisive close beyond resistance to confirm that move.

Moreover, another analyst, BitGuru, mentioned that SOL price is holding a key reversal zone following its recent pullback. The analyst identified the $75 to $77 range as the main area to watch. This zone remains the immediate hurdle for buyers.

A move above the range could confirm renewed bullish momentum. A confirmed breakout could then push the SOL price toward the next resistance near $78. Until that happens, the breakout remains unconfirmed.

In the past 24 hours, total liquidations reached $1.96 million. Long liquidations accounted for $581,170, while short liquidations totaled $1.38 million. Short positions represented the larger share of the liquidations.

What Solana Proposals Mean for SOL Supply

According to Solana Daily, two governance proposals could change the token’s inflation policy. SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553 are expected to increase daily token burns from 650 SOL to 9,000 SOL. This corresponds to a fourteenfold increase in the amount of daily SOL burn.

These proposed changes will speed up Solana’s approach to its 1.5% terminal inflation rate in 2029, as opposed to 2032. The supporters expect that this change will see the supply of 18.9 million SOL removed over a period of six years.

🚨 Solana could soon become significantly more deflationary.

Two new governance proposals, SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553, would:
🔸Increase daily SOL burned from ~650 to ~9,000 SOL (14×)
🔸Cut inflation faster, reaching the 1.5% terminal rate by 2029 instead of 2032

The value of the expected supply reduction is estimated at approximately $1.36 billion. The proposals have already received the backing of 24.94 million SOL, equal to 5.8% of the stake. They need about 40 million more SOL to reach the 15% threshold for an official vote on August 18.
