Shiba Inu: Polygon’s Offer To Shibarium To Unveil New Horizons

September 1, 2023 by Lipika Deka

The Shiba Inu community has found itself presented with a captivating proposition, none other than from Mihailo Bjelic, the co-founder of Polygon. Bjelic extended an invitation to SHIB developers, urging them to harness the potential of Polygon zkEVM for Shibarium. He emphasized the notion of enriching their blockchain ecosystem and encouraged other layer-1 networks and sidechains to integrate as Ethereum-based layer-2 networks.

Within the realm of Polygon zkEVM lie numerous remarkable attributes. The allure of this technology’s promises has led Bjelic to consider the adoption of Polygon zkEVM as an obvious choice for various chains. Bjelic’s message, conveyed through a tweet, highlights the instrumental role played by the Polygon team in supporting Shibarium through its technical challenges, exacerbated by overwhelming traffic.

Previously, Kaal Dhairya, a prominent SHIB developer, expressed gratitude to the MATIC team for their significant assistance, a gesture especially meaningful considering that Shibarium is a fork of Polygon. Responding to this gratitude, Sandeep Nailwal, one of Polygon’s co-founders, affirmed their unwavering commitment to support.

Introduced in June 2022, Polygon’s zkEVM marked a monumental stride in Ethereum scaling and Zero-Knowledge [ZK] innovation, offering amplified throughput and substantially reduced fees. The key feature of EVM equivalence underscores the versatility of Polygon zkEVM, enabling the deployment of any smart contract, development tool, or DApp.

This technology, beyond being an in-house endeavor, is also open-source, tailored for those seeking a swifter and more economical approach to using Ethereum without compromising on security or decentralization. It operates on a permissionless basis, embracing accessibility for all.

Shiba Inu Calls For Help

In the wake of SHIB’s transformative L-2 relaunch, Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, and his team, expressed profound appreciation to Polygon Labs. This gesture of gratitude was directed particularly towards Polygon’s prominent figures, including Sandeep Nailwal and Jaynti Kanani, as well as core protocol team member Krishna Upadhyaya.

This outpouring of gratitude is rooted in the assistance Polygon provided in overcoming the challenges that beset Shibarium shortly after its mainnet introduction due to an unexpected surge in user activity.

In a recent blog post, Shiba Inu’s project lead revealed his outreach to Sandeep Nailwal, who promptly extended support to address the situation. This sequence of events exemplifies Polygon’s commitment to collaboration and technical resolution.
