Shiba Inu’s Shytoshi Kusama Expresses Regret Over Countdown Confusion

Shiba Inu’s pseudonymous developer Shytoshi Kusama issued an apology for the confusion regarding the special countdown while stressing that he is not personally responsible for every detail of the project.

Please note that I am not responsible for every detail of Shib (i.e. website). So I applaud Trophias and his team for the new design and totally understand how the countdown could have been misleading. Although not in control of that, I apologize for any confusion. Stay tuned.

It all began when the lead developer, as usual, teased an upcoming announcement last week that generated quite a buzz among the community members.

SHIB fans were eagerly awaiting the much-touted layer 2 solutions called Shibarium as evidenced by a myriad of social media posts that pointed to an imminent Shibarium launch.

Moreover, a number of community members began sharing animated images of countdown clocks on social media. Amidst the flurry of rumors, the meme token Shiba Inu also registered a brief surge of over 2% against the U.S. dollar.

It was reported at the time that the creators of the SHIB-centric L2 scaling project introduced Shibarium during the alpha testnet phase in a closed environment. The wallet application was the hardest element of the software development, according to the developers, but other than that, the outcomes were good.

Then, on December 15, “Shibakraken,” a member of the Shiba Inu team and a Discord administrator, tweeted a picture of an animated clock. On the same day, “Shib Trophias,” a separate community member, tweeted a distinct animated graphic of a clock countdown.

All these hints were thought to be referring to the debut of the L2 project Shibarium which was expected to launch this year in the third quarter.

Shiba Inu’s “Major Announcement” Turned Into A Major Downer

It turned out, though, that the “major announcement” was only an update to the team website. Many in the SHIB army were understandably dismayed by this discovery, and this did not set well with them.

Some users expressed their dissatisfaction with comments like “very underwhelming” and “quite amateurish” on the appearance of the website.

Kusama added that he was appreciative of the Shiba Inu developer Trophias and his group for updating the cryptocurrency’s official website. Trophias also took to Twitter to say that the website is “only the start”, asserting that developers cannot disclose everything at once.
