Terra collaborates with Washington Nationals

February 11, 2022 by Aishwarya shashikumar

Terra (LUNA) stated the week before that they would be collaborating with a sports team. Terra unveiled its partner today, the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball after the game DAO officially moved the resolution.

Quite recently, yet another altcoin had partnered with a sports team. Last week, the meme Baby Doge had announced its partnership with the German football club, TSG Hoffenheim to establish club-specific non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It looks like there seems to be a trend brewing. Now, According to a Wednesday release, the Washington Nationals baseball franchise has signed a “groundbreaking” five-year agreement with public blockchain platform Terra.

While LUNA is one of the biggest decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) in the cryptocurrency sector, and its blockchain and DeFi ecosystem have propelled it to the top of the market, the Nationals are a major league baseball leader in terms of innovation, deploying technological advances on a regular basis to improve the fan experience. Mark D. Lerner, the managing principal owner of the Washington Nationals exclaimed,

“The Nationals continue to push the envelope. We are excited to partner with Terra to name our most exclusive club and explore bringing powerful new fan experiences to Nationals Park, including the use of UST cryptocurrency to make purchases.”

Joy in the Terra x Nationals partnership

It has been stated that at Nationals Park, the blockchain’s branding will be proudly featured in the premier club immediately behind home plate – for non-baseball fans, this is the best view in the stadium.  The protocol logo will be visible throughout the stadium. Terra is also a contributor to a five-part digital series that will be distributed throughout the Washington Nationals’ social media handles.

However, the greatest revelation from this press release is that UST (the said altcoin’s native stable token) could be accepted at Nationals Park as early as next season, as per their press release. Stablecoins are currently only available on exchanges or through third parties like Flexa and Visa. At the time of writing, Terra (LUNA) was priced at $52.72 and had taken a plunge of 5.89%, over the last 24 hours.
