Mike Novogratz, the CEO of Galaxy digital reported had a bet on Bitcoin price with the crypto critic Nouriel Roubini during May this year. He had said that he would wear a t-shirt saying “Nouriel was right” if Bitcoin failed to cross $6000 mark till Christmastime this year but Bitcoin valued over $7000 this Christmas.
Novogratz Won Bet
CNBC earlier in May this year announced that the two prominent market voices had a word war during a SALT 2019 conference in Las Vegas. Roubini remained stiff-necked on his view, calling crypto as mother and father of bubbles but Novogratz kept believing that the price of Bitcoin will rebound.
Debating over the topic “The future of cryptocurrencies”, both veterans ended their talk with a bet over a T-shirt”. It was reported that economist Nouriel Roubini who is famously known as “Dr.Doom” bashed Bitcoin and other alternative cryptocurrencies, doesn’t even deserve to be called “cryptocurrencies”.
Bitcoin Trades over $7K
On the other hand, Bitcoin bull Novogratz believed Dr.Doom is underestimating the future of the crypto industry. This being said, Novogratz initiated a bet saying; Bitcoin is at $6000 now;
“If at Christmastime it’s above $6,000, you have to wear a shirt that says, ‘I love bitcoin.’ If it’s not, I will wear a T-shirt saying, ‘Nouriel was right.'”
However, Bitcoin was trading at over $7000 mark on December 25, 2019, and at the time of reporting this, Bitcoin is valued at $7,332.45 against USD. As per the data provided by Coinmarketcap, Bitcoin is currently up by 1.39 percent of its value within the past 24Hrs and valuing the total market capitalization of $132,907,867,428.
Although Bitcoin is trading in a negative mark this Christmas in the context of Novogratz’s bet, it is up with over 1000USD. On a similar note, Novogratz took to Twitter and said;
