Cardano Founder Declares “Hail Hydra” After Successful Demo

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has welcomed Hydra, its layer-2 scalability solution, to the leading Dapp on the blockchain. A successful demo was completed by Hydra in the well-known decentralised exchange DEX SundaeSwap.

The DEX claims that even if a real launch is still some time off, it is a significant step forward for SundaeSwap and Cardano’s scaling efforts. The Ada community, on the other side, has applauded the action.

According to one user, Hydra could be the platform that finally pushes Cardano out of the mainstream cryptocurrency market. “Businesses using Hydra could generate non-speculative demand for ADA, which will drive up the price and bring thus users swarming to get in cheaper”, he added.

In March, programmers unveiled the Hydra Heads protocol on the public testnet. Some proponents have believed that Cardano, frequently referred to as an “Ethereum Killer,” will soon rule DeFi thanks to these characteristics.

A week ago, Charles Hoskinson outlined the upcoming Cardano Hydra Layer 2 scalability solution which seeks to speed up transactions by lowering latency and raising network throughput. Unsurprisingly, the founder had to face some detractors.

Cardano’s Charles Hoskinson Respond To Hydra Critics

One of them tweeted that the upgrade would differ from what had been first promised while asserting that Cardano had promised to release Hydra by October of last year.

In an effort to counter the criticism, the IOHK founder explained how Hydra would operate and demonstrated how many systems would be interconnected in order to carry out the scaling master plan.

Additionally, Hoskinson noted that Hydra is a public project with an open roadmap that is readily accessible to everyone on GitHub.

According to the Cardano founder, Hydra is a big deal in the scalability domain that will eventually include a practical application co-develop and integrate Hydra.

With the Hydra update, a portion of users will have their transactions handled off-chain, with the main-chain ledger serving as a safe settlement layer. Without requiring universal agreement, Hydra will maintain security guarantees while being loosely connected to the main chain, he further added.

Hoskinson then stated that the majority of users merely disregard the work that has been completed and made public in numerous blog entries, cardano360 episodes, and other resources in favor of “making stuff up.”
