Coinbase’s Base mainnet is now open for builders, marking a significant milestone in the network’s development. In a recent blog post on July 13, the Base team announced they had completed their launch criteria and are now inviting early builders to deploy on the Base mainnet. This move comes ahead of the network’s public launch, allowing more time for user onboarding.

To ensure a smooth transition to the mainnet, Coinbase’ Base provides hands-on support to builders through the #base-developers channel in their Discord community. Early builders who deploy on the mainnet will also receive a Genesis Builder NFT commemorating their initial involvement. Base encourages all builders to hold off on publicly exposing their user-facing decentralized applications (dApps) until early August, when Base will be open to the world.

Tools & Services Available On Coinbase Base Mainnet

Moreover, several tools and services are available on the mainnet to facilitate building on Base. These include node providers like Blockdaemon, QuickNode, and Blast, smart wallet infrastructure from Safe Wallet, block explorers such as Basescan and Blockscout, data indexers like The Graph, Goldsky, and Covalent, and developer tooling from Thirdweb.

The journey towards the mainnet launch has been a careful and methodical process, with a strong emphasis on ensuring safety, security, and stability. The Base has taken significant steps to achieve this goal.

It underwent a Regolith Hardfork, working closely alongside Optimism to gain insights from their successful mainnet deployment. Additionally, multiple security reviews were conducted, and stability was maintained through various software releases.

As an incentive for developers, Coinbase’ Base is introducing the Genesis Builder NFT, a non-transferable on-chain token representing early support for Base’s mission. Developers can earn this NFT by deploying their dApps on Base and completing the on-chain application process. The Genesis Builder NFT has different tiers based on deployment time.

To celebrate reaching this significant milestone and foster further community engagement, Base is organizing an open mint event for the exclusive “Base is for builders” NFT. Those who are interested can participate by signing a message using EIP-191 and submitting the signature to the NFT contract to mint the special commemorative token.

With the opening of the Base mainnet to builders, the network is taking a crucial step toward its public launch in August. The Base team is eager to see the innovative projects that developers will build and looks forward to welcoming a new wave of users onto the platform, creating a seamless and secure on-chain experience for everyone.
