Crypto ETF news is gathering momentum, setting the stage for a potentially revolutionary second half of 2025 for the cryptocurrency industry. In the most recent news, ETF fanboy Nate Geraci recently highlighted an ironic news report: Vanguard, an entity that does not allow spot Bitcoin ETFs on its platform, had surreptitiously become MicroStrategy, an entity most well-known for owning billions of Bitcoin, the largest shareholder.
Geraci did not sugarcoat. “If you can’t recognize the irony in this situation, I don’t know what to say,” he pondered in a widely shared message about the contradiction between Vanguard’s financial choices and its policies against crypto products. It was just an implication: traditional finance can no longer feign ignorance of crypto while basking in good vibes from it.
In the future, Geraci believes it is time industry giants like BlackRock diversify their crypto ETF strategies. In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum, it is now time to target select altcoins like XRP and Solana and issue a diverse crypto index fund. In his view, other firms like State Street as well as Schwab will miss out in case they don’t catch up quickly in the race for digital assets.
XRP and Solana Lead 2025 Crypto ETF Race
Bloomberg reports some of the crypto tokens in contention for ETF approval in 2025. Some of them include Solana (SOL), XRP, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, Hedera, and Avalanche. All, however, agree with Geraci and other market analysts that XRP as well as Solana, is most set up for early gains due to rising institutional focus, favorable blockchain action, and greater financial partnerships.

Historically, ETF launches create hype and pre-launch rallies before they sell off initially when trading begins. Nonetheless, coins with solid fundamentals tend to bounce back and enter trends. XRP has limited exposure currently in the form of Grayscale products but has a maturing set of financial service integrations as well as ETF applications in the queue.
Solana has increased developer activity with increased institutional adoption, therefore being another clear frontrunner towards a future spot ETF. If trends continue, the crypto ETF space in late 2025 would see a sea change, one in which altcoins would lead the way with XRP and Solana taking centre stage.
As traditional players already have indirect exposures in crypto, pressure is mounting for mass adoption in a controlled manner in the form of regulated investment products. ETF approvals lined up next can be industry history’s watershed moment.
