El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele has bold Bitcoin statements for 2022

January 2, 2022 by Lipika Deka

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele feels extremely optimistic about the future for the world’s most dominated crypto-asset Bitcoin [BTC] while teasing a ‘huge surprise’ in the upcoming 2022 Bitcoin conference in Miami, Florida this April. Bukele whose nation charted history for being the first in the world to adopt BTC back on September 7 2021 put out some strong statements in his official Twitter handle.

Among his predictions for the king coin, this new year includes a $100K price target along with another bold prediction that few countries will follow suit in adopting BTC as legal tender without specifying any names. It is interesting to note that previously El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States Milena Mayorga in an interview stated that other countries “will follow” in Bitcoin adoption if successful in their country.

In addition to that, Nayib Bukele also prophesied that Bitcoin would soon be a major electoral issue in US elections in 2022. It is not unusual that the attention surrounding the asset in the United States amongst politicians has really heated up over the past year. Many political leaders such as Andrew Yang, Republican senators Cynthia Lummis and Warren Davidson showed their support for the asset class. Whilst others like Elizabeth Warren deemed BTC as a financial instrument for the wealthy class. On top of that, SEC’s rejection to a number of BTC ETFs has caused quite a stir in the crypto community. Nevertheless, only time will tell how Bitcoin regulation will evolve in the US as more politicians educate themselves on the matter.

Next, the Nayib Bukele asserted that the construction of “Bitcoin City will commence.” The announcement again was a no brainer as it was revealed at the end of Bitcoin week in El Salvador last year, that saw the hosting of two BTC-focused conferences- LaBitConf and Adopting Bitcoin. Apart from that. he is also heavily betting on its BTC bonds which will be issued on Blockstream’s Liquid Network, claiming it “will be oversubscribed.” Summing up, the president dropped hints of a massive surprise for the next Bitcoin conference.

Nayib Bukele – a big Bitcoin Bull

President Nayib Bukele has been a known staunch supporter for the king coin and has been on a bitcoin buying spree, increasing his nation’s BTC reserve at the slightest opportunity and until November 26 2021, El Salvador had 1,220 Bitcoins. Having said that it will be interesting to see how many of these predictions would come true, this new year.
