Helium Network Surges 138.5% in Data Offloading as Hotspots Top 380K

Helium
  • Helium Network’s Q2 2025 data offloading rose 138.5% from last quarter.
  • Mobile Hotspot count jumped over 53%, driving stronger network reach.
  • Paid mobile traffic surged, adding to Helium’s revenue growth.

Big telecom brands such as T-Mobile, Movistar, AT&T, Google Orion, and Wefi are now tapping into the Helium Network for coverage support. This lets carriers shift part of their user data onto Helium’s infrastructure, improving service without overloading their own systems.

In the second quarter of 2025, total data offloaded through the network climbed to 2,721 terabytes, a sharp rise from 1,140.9 terabytes in Q1. AT&T’s addition to the program in April marked another step forward in its carrier partnerships.

Revenue-driving traffic is also on the rise. Average daily paid mobile traffic increased from 12.1 terabytes in Q1 to 20.6 terabytes, a 70.6% gain. This brought the all-time total to 5,520.8 terabytes, up more than half from the previous quarter. With carrier offloading growing, its network usage is set to keep expanding.

Helium Network Now Has Over 380K Hotspots

Messari’s latest report shows steady network expansion. New Helium Mobile Hotspots grew 12.5% quarter-over-quarter, from 28,100 to 31,600. When converted Hotspots were included, the total number reached 98,107, marking a 53.8% increase.

IoT Hotspots rose 13%, ending Q2 with 38,900 active units since the Solana migration in April 2023. Combined with mobile Hotspots, the total stood at more than 380,900 worldwide.

Helium’s Proof-of-Coverage model keeps growth strategic by adjusting rewards based on density, ensuring devices are placed where they are most needed. This method has built the strongest coverage in large cities across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, while still encouraging deployment in underserved areas.

Affordable Plans Fuel User Growth

Helium Mobile’s pricing structure undercuts many traditional telecom options. The $30 “Infinity” plan offers unlimited data, while the $15 “Air” plan includes 10GB. The “Zero” plan is free with 3 GB per month in exchange for anonymized location data sharing. Users can earn Cloud Points, which can be redeemed for eGift cards or donated to nonprofits.

In June, the network introduced the “Sprout” Kids plan at $5 for 3GB and unlimited talk and text. Parents manage the account, and location data is never shared under this plan.

Subscriber growth mirrored the appeal of these options. Account signups rose 94.1% in Q2, from 160,300 to 311,200. Once activated, users receive a Mobile NFT to track signups and automatically connect to Helium Hotspots when available, switching to T-Mobile’s network when needed.
