Crypto Crimes
  • In recent times, there has been a high rise in the number of crypto crimes in India despite the fact that the country has not made any strong stance on crypto regulations.
  • A student was arrested in the early hours of today after it was traced that he was linked to operating different crypto scams.

As crypto continues to gain ground in different nations, with more nations accepting and legalizing the use of this “digital currency,” there has also been a huge rise in the number of crypto frauds, thefts, and hackings recorded across various continents and countries.

This rise in the number of crimes related to crypto across the world has caused some other nations to draw back their support for crypto adoption. One of the countries that has faced a significant increase in the number of crypto crimes is India. Although India’s stance on cryptocurrency has been on the fence, as there are no strict regulations and also no complete acceptance.

Some Recent Crypto Crimes in India

A few hours ago, a local Indian news outlet recorded a crypto fraud case involving a 23-year-old student. According to the details shared, the 23-year-old Shaurya Singh was involved in a crypto fraud worth about Rs. 3.81 Crore, which is $440,687.

The details covered that Shaurya, alongside his accomplice Sudhir Palande, was involved in transporting what they called “kits.” Basically, these kits contained SIM cards, checkbooks, and ATM cards that the two used to carry out their crypto theft.

He was also accused of using his bank account to make payments for Palande and the others in their team, mostly for hotels, food, and other little expenses. Singh was also accused of letting the group use his COINCDX account, which is now being used to pay him for his help.

Other crypto crimes within the region also involved a 90-year-old man who was manipulated into transferring Rs.1.25 Crore after being accused of violating legal laws. Another involved a young Indian job seeker who was involved in a Rs 49 lakh scam after being held hostage under the guise of a job.
