Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) has announced a new strategic partnership with Nansen, a blockchain analytics company. The new partnership will enable Nansen to establish a presence within the Special Administrative Region, according to the announcement on Tuesday, Feb 24.

Nansen will establish a local presence within GMC. The company will establish a team based in Bhutan to operate analytics from within the city.

The analytics focused on tracking digital asset movements related to projects and institutions based in the area. However, no further information has been shared about the new partnership.

Nansen to Build Real-Time Analytics Infrastructure

Nansen will establish a presence within GMC, which will include infrastructure to monitor movements in real time. GMC’s institutions and developers will benefit from this infrastructure.

Nansen is a well-known analytics provider in global markets. The tools are widely used to analyze wallet movements, asset movements, and other activities occurring within public blockchain networks.

Nansen CEO and co-founder Alex Svanevik said the company views Bhutan’s plans as a new model for digital finance. He stated that Nansen aims to support participants in the city by offering transparent insights into blockchain activity. He also emphasized that these tools will help users understand and navigate on-chain markets.

GMC officials emphasized the role of analytics in the general strategy. They stated that they are developing the city as a long-term economic zone through a phased strategy.

The previous announcements were part of the strategy, which also includes initiatives in custody, tokenization, institutional access, and regulatory structures.

Jigdrel Singay, Board Director of Gelephu Mindfulness City, said strong analytical foundations are critical. He said that it is important to engage with the people in developing a credible ecosystem.

Bhutan’s Bitcoin Funding Supports GMC

The collaboration will improve visibility, especially as the use of digital assets grows in GMC. The tools will help track network participation, which is important in the reporting and oversight processes.

The extent of the analytics’ use will determine its actual impact. It will also depend on how they are integrated into governance and regulatory workflows. These factors will shape how the system functions as activity expands in the zone.

The move follows Bhutan’s funding announcement from December 2025. The Royal Government of Bhutan later confirmed the allocation of 10,000 Bitcoin for the city’s early development. The amount was valued at about $900 million at the time.

The funds were set aside for core infrastructure needs. They also supported the establishment of a new economic zone in southern Bhutan.

The Nansen partnership adds a data-focused component to GMC’s strategy. It is another step in the city’s strategy to develop a comprehensive digital asset ecosystem. The partnership aligns with the Bhutan government’s strategy and vision for the city’s development.
