  • Nokia’s new patent aims to secure crypto assets with encryption.
  • Key-based encryption could address growing security risks in crypto.
  • Nokia joins major companies advancing blockchain and crypto tech.

Nokia is expanding into blockchain technology with a new patent that could reshape the crypto security landscape. The encryption system aims to protect crypto investments from hacking and unauthorized access, providing users with a crucial layer of protection.

Nokia Patents Encryption System to Protect Digital Assets

Nokia has filed a patent for a new encryption system designed to improve the security of digital assets. The system will encrypt crypto assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum using a first key, making them accessible only to those with the corresponding private key. This development comes after rising concerns over security vulnerabilities such as hacking in the crypto industry.

The patented encryption process aims to ensure that only authorized individuals can access or transact with encrypted digital assets. This would add an extra layer of protection to digital assets, preventing unauthorized access and potential hacking.

Patent to Enhance Key-Based Encryption for Crypto Security

The encryption system described in Nokia’s patent will also index encrypted assets for identification and verification purposes. The encrypted assets will remain inaccessible until a transaction is confirmed, adding another layer of security to the digital asset exchange process. This could address some of the pressing security challenges facing the crypto industry today.

Nokia’s move will address the demand for better security in the crypto space especially because of the growing number of hacks in the crypto market. In 2024, over $2.2 billion was lost to crypto hacks, according to Chainalysis data. This represents a 21% increase in crypto-related hacks, driven by the market’s growth and wider adoption.

Companies’ Blockchain Technology and Crypto Rally

Nokia is part of a broader trend where traditional companies are exploring the blockchain and crypto technology space. The company has expanded its portfolio from mobile phones into areas like blockchain. The new patent for digital asset encryption highlights Nokia’s commitment to innovate and create solutions in the crypto industry.

Other tech companies such as Microsoft, Sony and Apple have also filed patents related to blockchain. These companies filed for patent to enhance the security and efficiency in the cryptocurrency payment space

Mastercard, another major player, has been proactive in developing crypto-related technologies. In September, the company filed two patents aimed at facilitating trustless payments and converting crypto to fiat currency. These activities by Mastercard suggest that the company is positioning itself as a leader in the adoption of digital assets.
