opBNB Mainnet Launch Marks A New Era In Blockchain: 150+ Projects On Board

opBNB

Today marks a significant milestone in the blockchain world as opBNB Mainnet is officially launched. With over 150 projects already committed to integrating or building on opBNB, this Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible Layer 2 chain based on Optimism OP Stack is poised to reshape the industry.

OpBNB’s main promise is to revolutionize the blockchain industry by offering cheaper gas fees and making blockchain technology accessible to a broader audience as the world increasingly embraces Web3, aiming to bring the next one billion users into the fold.

The journey towards Mainnet began on June 19, 2023, with the launch of their Testnet. Over the past few months, the network has achieved remarkable milestones. They processed over 35 million on-chain transactions and connected with 435,972 unique wallet addresses.

Key Milestones Met Before opBNB Mainnet Launch

Before opening the Mainnet, opBNB diligently focused on scalability and security, meeting all the required criteria. They implemented a High Availability (HA) solution to prevent a single point of failure, achieved a peak of 4,000 transactions per second (TPS), and conducted successful stress testing campaigns to assess performance, scalability, and robustness.

Importantly, they ensured an average gas cost as low as 0.2 gwei. Security remains a top priority, with continuous internal and external audits to enhance infrastructure security.

OpBNB’s unique value proposition includes super cheap gas costs with Layer 2 gas fees as low as 0.2 gwei and transaction costs reduced to as low as $0.005 per transfer transaction. They employ a trustless approach with no assumptions about the Sequencer.

All opBNB transaction data is submitted on the BNB Smart Chain and is verified by all full nodes, mitigating concerns about potential censorship. Users also have the option to utilize Deposit transactions, guaranteeing their inclusion in the canonical L2 chain. Additionally, a multisig wallet is available for core opBNB smart contract upgrades.

The developer community is at the heart of opBNB’s success. The project has partnered with leading infrastructure and tooling providers to enhance the developer experience. Initiatives like the Hackvolution hackathon and numerous AMAs and Twitter spaces have further fostered this community.

With the launch of opBNB Mainnet, the focus now shifts to strengthening the network through key measures. These include continuous research to enhance the efficiency of the fraud-proof system, implementing account abstraction to streamline network interactions, and ensuring seamless data availability with the BNB Greenfield ecosystem.
