Republic acquires INX Digital for up to $60M, expanding access to tokenized and traditional assets, boosting liquidity, and enhancing trading opportunities.

  • INX shareholders to receive up to $60 million, with a 457% premium over closing price.
  • Republic’s 3.2M+ investors gain access to INX.One for expanded tokenized asset trading.
  • INX Token holders to receive a $34.3 million distribution from the token reserve post-merger.

New York-based investment firm Republic has acquired Canadian crypto trading company INX Digital in a deal worth up to $60 million. The transaction will finalize within the next eight months and will become a major development in regulated digital finance.

Republic’s acquisition of INX integrates two leading entities in digital assets by uniting INX’s developed trading platform with Republic’s vast portfolio of investors. Republic acquired complete ownership of INX after maintaining a 9.5% stake after a June 2023 partnership.

Through this acquisition, Republic aims to strengthen its blockchain investment capabilities and to create a unified platform for trading tokenized assets, security tokens, and cryptocurrencies. The unified network of Republic and INX will deliver an uninterrupted multi-asset investment experience spanning their primary and secondary markets.

Enhanced Investment Opportunities and Liquidity

Through the combination, digital and traditional assets gain wider accessibility since they reach more investors. With 3.2 million investors in their network, Republic gives its members full access to INX. One, INX’s main trading platform. Through its enlarged network, INX expects to boost trading liquidity so users will find stronger trading opportunities.

The acquisition also merges both firms’ efforts to bridge traditional finance with blockchain technology. Investors can engage in a broader range of assets, from real-world assets (RWAs) to private credit, real estate, stablecoins, ETFs, and more. Adding INX’s regulated Crypto and Security Token Trading capabilities to the firm’s global investment capabilities creates a more diverse and connected capital marketplace ecosystem.

INX’s Role in Republic’s Ecosystem

Implementing NX provides the firm with vital regulatory capabilities for its blockchain operations. In collaboration with INX’s regulatory oversight, the platform maintains secure operations to permit investors and token holders to trade with confidence. The merged INX platform will maintain its existing trading ability for INX Token and other offerings on INX.One to provide consistent service to existing users.

The acquisition will distribute funds from the INX Token reserve, totaling $34.3M, to INX Token holders. The deal will improve the overall user trading experience while maintaining its previous security and compliance standards.
