Shiba Inu’s Lucie Sasnikova has announced a significant update. The cross-chain bridge for the layer-2 scaling protocol is now available for public testing, bringing Shibarium’s mainnet launch one step closer. Sasnikova recommended that users exercise caution and verify authenticity before connecting their wallets to any website. She also suggested avoiding the use of real assets.
The cross-chain protocol using the Shibarium PoS and Ethereum sidechains was initially outlined in the documentation of the Shibarium blockchain network. The Shibarium PoS will leverage the Ethereum network’s sidechains to handle transactions, leading to quicker transaction speeds and cost savings.
Given that Shibarium’s PoS uses Plasma Bridge technology and a decentralized network of validators, the cross-chain bridge would likewise make use of PoS security to enable transactions between Shibarium and Ethereum in both directions.
According to the blog, this would guarantee a smooth transfer of tokens between the two networks, free from any third-party risks. It would also maintain uninterrupted liquidity between the platforms, serving as an effective scaling solution. So far, there are roughly half a million ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum.
Back in April, Sasnikova hinted at a new feature in the works that will greatly enhance the Layer-2 scalability protocol. According to Lucie, the Shibarium bridge will revolutionize the network and tremendously increase its usefulness.
As many of us are aware, the Shiba Inu team has already launched the Shibarium testnet, also known as PuppyNet. Since its release a month ago, the network has experienced significant activity. In fact, the testnet recently achieved a new milestone as the total number of transactions surpassed 32 million, just days after reaching 31 million.
Shiba Inu: Shibarium Testnet’s Roaring Success
Data provided by Puppyscan revealed that the Shibarium testnet has seen over 32 million transactions, indicating that the network is growing quickly. Additionally, the total number of blocks has now reached 1,825,723, which is an increase of over 17 million wallet addresses compared to the previous number.
Recently, a SHIB influencer named Lola proposed a clever idea for how Shiba Inu could assist Twitter in the new ‘X’ era. Her suggestion came as a response to Elon Musk’s humorous mention of the token during a Twitter rebranding discussion.
