Shiba Inu: Shytoshi Kusama Impersonator Flouts Fake Rewards Program

Scamsters posing as Shiba Inu’s project lead Shytoshi Kusama targeting users with phony rewards schemes.

One SHIB-focused Twitter account shared the link of a fraudster impersonating Kusama and warned against clicking the dubious link.

As per reports, this fake rewards program comes with claims like “TONS of unclaimed rewards” for those who hold BONE, SHIB, LEASH, and other related tokens.

The tweet begins with a bogus announcement like Shibarium Beta’s private access has been enabled enticing people to join in order to be eligible for incentives.

After they are persuaded that the tweet is real, users would be asked for their personal information or access to their digital wallets.

When provided with these sensitive details, scammers will have access to their cryptocurrency assets, including the full Shiba Inu trifecta: SHIB, LEASH, and BONE.

Of late, the SHIB ecosystem is teeming with a lot of activities ranging from the Shibarium’s beta launch earlier this March, tokens listing, SHIB metaverse event to the Puppynet drama. This provided a fertile ground for these fraudsters to target SHIB users.

However, users can simply avoid such traps by following some safety guidelines like avoiding interaction with unverified accounts on social media platforms like Twitter.

If one comes across any such dubious accounts claiming to be the project lead or anyone from the Shiba Inu team, one should report and block such accounts. Additionally, they should also verify the authenticity of the source before providing any personal information or access to digital wallets.

Shiba Inu’s Project Lead Caution Users

Moreover, Kusama himself recently warned that many Shibarium scams using his name with fake rewards schemes have cropped up, and urged users to not fall for these fraudulent offers.

The lead developer also provided the user with a tip on how to distinguish between a legitimate and phony Twitter account. The genuine one has a blue verification checkmark on it.

As his following has been edging closer to 1 million, Kusama received it last week. At the time of writing, over 908k people are following the SHIB developer on Twitter.

That said, the Shiba Inu ecosystem was in the midst of a recent scandal pertaining to the Shibarium beta testnet sharing the same chain ID of an existing blockchain

Kusama claimed that Puppynet and Shibarium both used the same ChainID number and that the creators of Shibarium evidently forgot to delete it. He also disclosed that a new version of the BETA network with a different chain ID will soon be launched.
