Shiba Inu Unleashes Karma: Reputation Revolution Hits Shibarium

  • Shibarium tests Karma, a reputation rewards launch on Puppynet, gamifying user engagement with points.
  • Shibarium’s DIDs give users self-sovereign data control, boosting security.
  • Karma system uses smart contracts to track and reward user activity across Shibarium.

The Shiba Inu ecosystem is heating up, specifically on Shibarium, the layer-2 blockchain solution. Karma, a reputation-based system, has gone live on Puppynet, the test network for the Shibarium. Powered by smart contracts like KarmaStorage and KarmaLogic, this new system tracks users’ moves through DIDs and rewards them for their actions, just like a gamified reward system.

Karma’s Coming to Shibarium

Something big is brewing on Puppynet—Shibarium’s Karma Ecosystem is now live in test. While we wait for the official announcement, here’s what we know:

For those new, Shiba Inu’s DIDs, or Decentralized Identifiers, are based on the idea of Self-Sovereign Identity [SSI]. Incorporated in 2023, DIDs on Shibarium are self-sovereign digital identities, allowing the person or organization to have full control over their personal data. It mainly emphasizes five main aspects of self-custody: portability, zero-knowledge [ZK], compliance, security, and gateway.

The key elements of this system are its smart contracts, KarmaStorage, and KarmaLogic, designed specifically to store and calculate karma points. The first will act as the main ledger, recording each user’s actions; the latter will be responsible for turning actions into karma. Besides these two, there are also specialized logic contracts, curated for specific functionalities within Shibarium.

Workflow of Karma System, from Shiba Inu Transaction to Reward

A Shiba Inu community member has detailed the process of converting user actions into reward points. For example, if a user swaps Shiba Inu on Shibaswap, an off-chain service detects the transaction and sends it to the specific smart contract, which then calculates Karma points earned. Another smart contract updates the transaction details. Users then receive the message showing the reward points earned.

Here’s the flow: I swap SHIB on Shibaswap, and an off-chain service (via applicationAddress) picks it up. It hits KarmaLogicDEX.runAction with the action index (e.g., 4 for “SWAP”), multiplier (say 1), my DID, and a unique hash. KarmaLogicDEX calculates 50 points (estimateAction), then KarmaStorage updates my total, logs the time, and fires off events (KarmaUpdated, ApplicationKarmaUpdated). The UI says, “You earned 50 karma!”—clean and crisp.

Overall, the system is designed to incentivize user engagement across various Shibarium applications. The announcement further revealed that the Karma system would be implemented across various aspects of the Shibarium, ranging from DeFi to NFTs to metaverse plays.
