Ondo Founder

Ondo Finance, a prominent blockchain platform for the tokenized real-world assets, sadly shared the news of the sudden passing of Ondo founder and CEO Nathan Allman on May 25, 2026. The company stated that President Ian De Bode will be stepping up to the role of CEO from now on.

Establishing the RWA Landscape

Ondo founder Nathan Allman launched Ondo in 2021 after a stint on the Digital Assets team at Goldman Sachs. With his guidance, Ondo has become a trusted brand in tokenized finance and has been able to bring traditional instruments like US Treasuries on-chain through offerings like OUSG and USDY. Up till now, the platform has assisted in tokenizing $3.86 billion worth of real-world assets on-chain.

Ondo went on to say that the succession is a result of a very organized change implementation rather than a reaction to a crisis, and they also reiterated that the team is very strong and Ondo founder Nathan Allman was the one who put them together. “The mission of Ondo, Nate’s mission, has not changed,” De Bode posted on X.

Industry Impact and Challenges

It was unexpected for Ondo founder Allman to die, and there was no prior disclosure of any health problems. Plus, his dream was to use blockchain technology to open up the financial system to make it more accessible and transparent. The switch of leaders is a great challenge for the DeFi sector. At the same time, it exposes the risk of operational disruptions for tokenization platforms. After the news of Ondo founder Nathan Allman’s passing was shared, ONDO’s token value went down by 6.5% to $0.41.
