Strike Expands Global Bitcoin Accessibility with New Features & Partnerships

November 17, 2023 by Ammar Raza

In a significant move for the global cryptocurrency landscape, Strike has announced the launch of its Bitcoin services, enabling users worldwide to purchase Bitcoin with their debit cards. The company is officially live in 36 countries, with plans to expand to over 65 countries where the Strike app is available.

Global Bitcoin Access

Strike aims to be a leading Bitcoin and Lightning wallet globally, providing users with an accessible, secure, and functional platform. The company has introduced features such as Lightning Address, 0-value invoices, on-chain payment tiers, and global peer-to-peer (P2P) payments in fiat, USDT, or BTC between Strike users.

The vision for Strike goes beyond being just a wallet; it aspires to connect people worldwide, eliminating expensive intermediaries and facilitating frictionless global commerce. With a focus on providing value and accessibility, Strike has begun its global expansion, providing BTC access to individuals in diverse regions.

One noteworthy feature that Strike introduced is the Send Globally (fiat-over-lightning) rails, enabling users in supported countries to cash out their fiat, USDT, or BTC to their local currencies, even without a debit card. This service is currently available in 12 countries, including the Philippines, Mexico, Vietnam, Ghana, and Kenya, with plans for further expansion.

The strike has also partnered with Bitrefill, allowing users to utilize their fiat, USDT, or BTC balances to purchase everyday necessities over the Lightning Network. This strategic partnership enhances the practical applications of BTC, transforming it into a means for everyday transactions.

Striving for Global Bitcoin Adoption

Strike’s founder expressed a strong commitment to realizing Bitcoin’s global potential, citing the company’s foundational mission to provide a better global BTC experience. Despite challenges posed by the existing financial infrastructure, Strike is determined to overcome hurdles and offer users a seamless and cost-effective way to engage with BTC.

The company acknowledges the current pricing structure for non-U.S. users, with a 3.9% fee for deposits. While aiming to reduce costs in the future, Strike emphasizes its competitive pricing compared to other market players.

Strike’s journey began with a mission to empower billions globally through Bitcoin. From its involvement in El Salvador, marking a milestone in Bitcoin adoption, to the ongoing global expansion and innovative features, Strike is positioning itself as a significant player in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.

As the company continues to enhance its infrastructure, expand services, and navigate regulatory landscapes, users can expect further developments that align with Strike’s vision of providing a comprehensive Bitcoin experience for users worldwide.
