TAO Subnet Staking Hits $691 Million, Accounts for 19% Supply

The subnet staking figure under the Bittensor (TAO) network has risen to $691 million. This figure shows a sharp increase over the past year. However, out of the total supply of TAO, only about 19% of the supply has been allocated to subnet staking.

$TAO subnet staking went from $0 to $691M in 13 months; still only 19% of TAO is in subnets.

Rapid Growth in Subnet Staking

The increase in subnet staking to $691 million is due to an increase in capital going into the subnet ecosystem of Bittensor. Just a few months ago, the subnet staking was much lower, as shown by earlier data indicating that it was above $620 million before it began increasing.

This growth can be attributed to increasing number of active subnets, more validators and contributors joining the network, and more interest in decentralized infrastructure for artificial intelligence. Subnets are mini-networks on the Bittensor network, with each subnet being used for specific machine learning tasks.

What Are Bittensor Subnets?

Bittensor, also known as TAO, is a decentralized marketplace for machine intelligence, where individuals contribute to the computational work and are rewarded for it in Bittensor. Subnets form a key part of this framework.

Each subnet focuses on a specific AI function. Participants compete to produce valuable outputs. Rewards are distributed based on performance. The addition of dynamic TAO, or dTAO, further improved this framework by linking subnet value to TAO staking.

Only 19% of Supply in Subnets

In spite of the accelerated growth in staking, the current figure of 19% of the total supply in subnets is quite low. This also tells us that much of the Bittensor is not yet participating in subnets. There is scope for further capital inflow in subnets. The subnets are in the early stages of development.

The percentage of the total supply in subnets is quite low, indicating that the subnets are in the early stages of development.

Supply Dynamics and Market Implications

The increase in subnet staking has a significant impact on the supply side of TAO. This is because as more tokens are staked in subnets. The circulating supply in the market will be reduced.

The pressure to sell will be reduced. The price will be more sensitive to changes in demand. It is also important to note that Bittensor’s tokenomics have been affected by its halving.

Growing Role of Decentralized AI

Subnet staking expansion is also an expansion of interest in decentralized AI networks. Bittensor’s system provides developers and participants with an opportunity to collectively create and monetize machine learning systems without any central control.

Recent developments in the ecosystem include subnet tokens and valuation expansion, increased interest from institutions and investors, and subnets are now being used for real-world AI applications. This positions TAO as part of a wider trend combining blockchain and artificial intelligence.

What Comes Next for TAO?

The data available shows that subnet staking may continue to increase, especially if more money enters this avenue from traditional staking or idle assets.

Bullish Scenario

  • More TAO goes into subnets past 19%
  • Liquid supply reduction aids price increase
  • More utility helps long-term demand increase

Neutral Scenario

  • Slow growth persists without any significant inflows
  • The market stabilizes as the ecosystem develops

Risk Scenario

  • The pace of subnet staking slows down, and money may exit
  • Subnet growth levels out without any acceleration
