Tether Selects Arbitrum to Power USDT0, Enhancing Cross-Chain Capabilities

By Sheila | Edited By Ammar Raza,February 12, 2025, 12:00 PM

Tether Increases Monitoring of Token Use to Combat Illicit Activities
  • Tether’s USDT0 improves cross-chain liquidity on Ethereum, Tron, TON, and Celo.
  • Arbitrum’s Legacy Mesh technology boosts USDt adoption and scalability across networks.
  • USDT remains the top stablecoin with a market cap of $141 billion, leading USD Coin.

Tether has selected Arbitrum as its infrastructure provider for USDT0 which represents the company’s new cross-chain stablecoin. The implementation of Arbitrum infrastructures aims at making USDt scale on multiple networks and operate across different blockchains. The central function of Arbitrum One serves to connect USDt deployments across Ethereum, Tron, TON, and Celo networks with the newly released USDT0.

TON Opens to 100+ Chains 🌐💎$TON has integrated @LayerZero_Core to connect with 100+ blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana & Tron! This brings seamless cross-chain transfers, enhanced liquidity, & access to major crypto assets.

The Legacy Mesh architecture from Arbitrum serves as a vital functionality to enable seamless USDt transfers between these major chains. Legacy Mesh technology by Offchain Labs creates deep liquid markets for users and developers between any blockchain system according to Steven Goldfeder the CEO. This technology is expected to drive wider adoption of USDt while improving the stablecoin’s efficiency across various networks.

USDT0’s Role in the Stablecoin Ecosystem

Tether’s new USDT0 cross-chain stablecoin was launched on January 16, 2025, in collaboration with LayerZero, with its first deployment on Kraken’s Ink scaling solution. USDT0 attains better cross-chain functionality through the addition of Arbitrum as its infrastructure provider. The USDt stablecoin‘s status as the leading stablecoin can gain further dominance through its new cross-chain capability which dominates a market worth over $141 billion.

Moreover, the USDT0 integration with Arbitrum aims to merge blockchain liquidity resources that currently operate in different blockchains. The enhancement of scalability through these improvements will significantly reduce both exchange costs and total transaction expenses. USDT maintains a dominant position in the stablecoin market while USD Coin (USDC) falls substantially behind it regarding total market capitalization.

Impact on TON and Other Blockchain Ecosystems

Due to the partnership between Arbitrum and Tether the TON network will gain major advantages from using LayerZero’s interoperability protocol. Users can now transfer assets between 100 different blockchains using the integrated functionality that supports Ethereum, Tron and Solana networks. TON seeks to mitigate its liquidity problems by using LayerZero’s infrastructure to interconnect with all major blockchain networks that were initially built by Telegram.

Through its alliance with LayerZero TON can extend its liquidity sustainability and achieve better connectivity with diverse users. USDT0’s inclusion together with USDe will boost TON adoption as it expands its integration with various platforms. Through this integration developers gain the power to develop decentralized applications (dApps) which can access liquidity from different blockchains throughout the TON ecosystem.
