The Tron Virtual Machine got launched in October of last year and has since then shot up the dapp charts. The latest breakthrough is Tron gets past the 100,000 daily user barrier, so, as things stand, the future is looking good for the fledgling entrant into the dapp market. The Sun-led blockchain is edging ever closer to EOS and has left Ethereum in the dust when it comes to the sheer amount of daily users.
The chart above shows that the daily active users for May 16th finally allowed Tron to breakthrough the elusive 100 thousand mark for the first time, though it is still away from EOS. However, given how late Tron came to the party, this is a massive achievement.
Misha Lederman, the co-founder of IamDecentralized.org, says that this figure, while impressive, will only be a blip compared to the millions of users more advanced dapps will attract. The response has been a bit muted, but his words could ring truer than ever before with recent developments behind Tron.
BitTorrent and Opera will open up a market of millions
Justin Sun, the CEO of the Tron Foundation, announced this week that Tron was partnering with Opera to help the popular browser with integrating its TRX token into their browser-integrated cryptocurrency wallet. This partnership has the potential to open up the market to Tron dapps in a way that will blow all the competition away. While the market share of Opera is mall compared to Chrome or Firefox, but it still used by millions of people around the world.
In fact, it is the browser that has captured a significant share of the central African market, which could boost innovation with regards to payments and dapps using TRX. Africa has long had a problem with infrastructure, but the Advent of cheap smartphones and better connectivity means that more people in central Africa use a smartphone as their main access to the internet. They are all using Opera due to its small footprint and ability to deliver web content in a bandwidth efficient manner.
The amount of innovation in Africa in general with regards to micropayment systems and mobile payments have been staggering, and once TRX becomes a part of the Opera ecosystem, we could see similar innovations take place, only with blockchain. It is definitely an exciting time for Tron.

The BitTorrent token got launched in an IEO on Binance in March of this year and has already climbed up the crypto charts to stake its claim among the Top 50 Highest Cap tokens in the world. This is a tremendous success for such a new token, but it is not surprising to anyone in the industry.
