Non-fungible tokens aka NFTs have created an uproar in the crypto market and Tron Foundation’s Justin Sun didn’t want to steer away from the NFT party. Not only did Sun dive into the NFT market but he decided to go big, The founder of the popular crypto network created a whole new record with his $15 million purchase.
Almost everyone seems to be smitten by the NFT bug, People who had no idea that crypto existed have been entering the market, thanks to the fervor around NFTs. Crypto platforms and networks certainly did get a headstart. A whopping $15 million worth NFT sale by the Tron network was proof of the same.
Palmer Labs rolled out the Bored Ape Yacht Club [BAYCTron] on the network and this was immensely favorable to both the network and the creators, This 10,000 NFT collection garnered a lot of admiration. In more recent news, a Joker-inspired artwork by BAYCTron was sold for about 150,000,000 TRX which amounts up to $15 million.
Tron network makes record-breaking NFT sale
The person behind this purchase was none other than Justin Sun. This artwork is currently the network’s most expensive NFT sale. The previous record was set during the purchase of the Tpunk #3442. This piece was bought in August 2021 for $10.5 million.
Sun, then took to Twitter to announce his latest purchase. His tweet read,
“Crypto Punk #NFT became the most expensive @Twitter avatars worth $10M! But today, the world record has been renewed again.
I bought a new Ape avatar with $15M worth of #TRX today!
After all, the art of the #NFT avatar is the new artistic showcasing for our generation.”
Additionally, it can be noted that both the record-breaking NFTs were inspired by Joker, a character from DC Comics.
While the crypto-verse hoards an array of NFT marketplaces, the Tron network seemed to be overshadowing everything else. The BAYCTron collection was reportedly doing very well as it includes a whole new Mutant Ape collection.
