  • Trump will deliver a pre-recorded speech at Blockworks’ Digital Asset Summit on March 20, marking a historic first for a sitting U.S. president.
  • His administration has taken a pro-crypto stance, establishing a U.S. Bitcoin Reserve and appointing pro-industry regulators.
  • The SEC has dropped its Ripple case, reflecting a broader shift toward favorable crypto regulations.

United States President Donald Trump is to address Blockworks’ Digital Asset Summit in New York on March 20, marking the first time that a sitting U.S. president will address a cryptocurrency conference. The news was confirmed by Blockworks on March 19 as it pointed out that this will be a historic event in the space of digital assets.

Trump’s entry highlights a stark contrast to that of the previous government under President Joe Biden, who had more than 100 actions against the crypto space. Trump’s tenure has seen a pro-industry shift in regulation that signals a more open attitude to blockchain technology and digital assets.

Co-founder at Blockworks Jason Yanowitz reflected on the industry’s development and said in a post-X, “When we started building Blockworks, we could hardly convince someone at a bank to attend an event. Now we have a sitting U.S. President addressing 2,500 institutional players. It’s astounding to see how far this industry has traveled.”

When we started Blockworks we could barely get someone from a bank to attend an event.

Now we have a sitting US President addressing a 2,500 institutional participants.

It is incredible how far this industry has come. https://t.co/is07z5AAor

Blockworks Exclusive Trump’s Bitcoin Strategy Revealed

Fox business correspondent Eleanor Terrett reported in an X that Trump’s address will be pre-recorded and broadcast at 10:40 a.m. EST. His address is a follow-up to a pro-crypto position that he had adopted while campaigning to become president in 2024 with a promise to make America the global leader in cryptocurrency and even to establish a national Bitcoin reserve.

Confirmed by @Blockworks_ that @realDonaldTrump will indeed be addressing the crowd at @blockworksDAS tomorrow via a recording.

I’m told 10:40 AM EST is the planned time as of now. https://t.co/ojfP5aK5ZD

Since coming to office on January 20th, Trump has moved swiftly to integrate crypto into national policy. His administration has signed executive orders that compel regulatory agencies to embrace policies that welcome crypto to build a more favorable environment for digital assets. He has also established a White House Crypto Advisory Team to provide strategic guidance on blockchain and digital currency adoption.

Moreover, the government has also set up a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile that signals that it is serious about making room for crypto in the country’s financial system. As if that wasn’t enough, Trump has also appointed pro-crypto individuals to key regulatory positions at both the SEC and Treasury Department that will create a regulatory framework that supports innovation and growth in the crypto space.

Blockworks SEC Drops Ripple Case as Crypto Shifts

The regulatory scene is already witnessing drastic changes. During the Digital Asset Summit, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse revealed that the SEC was withdrawing its long-term enforcement action against Ripple Labs. The action follows such dismissals of cases against top crypto companies such as Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap.

Trump’s speech next time is eagerly awaited, with business leaders looking forward to more details on stablecoin regulation, taxation policies, and U.S. crypto policy direction in general. Although Blockworks has not revealed exact areas Trump will speak on, recent moves by his administration indicate a significant regulatory shift is in progress.

As the crypto industry awaits Trump’s remarks, one thing is clear: Washington’s approach to digital assets is changing, and the world is watching.
