AVAX One has reached the home straight of its balance sheet purge. The Nasdaq-quoted digital asset treasury company said its convertible debt had shrunk to below $1 million, bringing to an end the self-described “pervasive way of thinking” of used treasuries that has shaped many crypto-linked listed companies this year.
The West Palm Beach, Florida-based AVAX One, trading as AVX, revealed on Oct. 7 it paid off more than $14.9 million of debt in the third quarter of 2026. Its SEC filing and GlobeNewswire press release disclosed its Q3 deleveraging was comprised of ∼$7.1 million of converted convertible debentures in exchange for common shares, ∼$7.4 million paid back via cash, and ∼$0.4 million redeemed into equity.

Capital Structure Cleanup
As of Sept. 30 2026 the company’s convertible debt was around $970,000. As well as deleveraging, AVAX One bought back 333,500 shares adjusted to account for its June one-for-twelve reverse stock split this way employing a dual-pronged strategy increasingly present among digital asset treasury firms.

The step back increases liquidity but involves dilution for AVAX One. Common shares outstanding rose to 9,987,248 as of September 30, up 35.6% from 7,363,270 at end of June, reflecting conversion activity. Buybacks have been aggressive. AVAX One repurchased 333,500 shares in September at an average price of $5.36, bringing cumulative repurchases since November 2025 to 836,743 shares.

With $33.9 million remaining under its $40 million authorization, management frames the program as a tool to close the discount between market capitalization and its Avalanche holdings.
Interim CEO Pete Wylie described Q3 as strong progress in simplifying the balance sheet. The approach mirrors larger peers like MicroStrategy, BitMine Immersion and SharpLink Gaming, which use buybacks to drive net asset value accretion when stocks trade below NAV.

A Three-Pillar Treasury Model
Treasury deleveraging AVAX One is at the confluence of three stories: avalanche treasury management, bitcoin mining, and modular data center infrastructure for AI and high-performance computing. It has a strategic AVAX reserve, earns yield via staking, and generates cash flow from mining and data centers.
For the entire blockchain ecosystem, AVAX One’s move signals a transition from excess leverage to sustainability. The treasury companies that issued convertible debt in 2024 and 2025 to buy tokens face maturities as rates and token prices converge. The improved balance sheet reduces forced-selling risk for AVAX and brings a more stable AVAX One ecosystem participant through staking.

For investors and institutions, it extends the runway and reduces refinancing risk. For Avalanche token-holders and builders, it’s a more stable treasury holder and less market overhang. Though, dilution remains. Debt has fallen below $1M but share issuance shows the cost of cleanup. Future sustainability will depend on operating cash flow rather than further equity issuance.

What Comes Next
The move aligns with institutional maturation in crypto treasuries. After public companies emulated MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin model with Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche, markets now demand clearer paths to sustainable profitability. AVAX One enters its next phase with minimal convertible debt and significant buyback capacity.

Key catalysts include Q4 treasury disclosures, staking yields, and utilization rates for modular data centers amid crowded AI infrastructure competition.
If it sustains buybacks while growing cash flow from mining and data centers, it could offer a template for smaller-cap treasuries balancing token exposure and shareholder value. If operating income lags, further dilution remains possible. For now, cutting debt to $970,000 removes a major overhang and lets the company focus on execution rather than refinancing today.
