Marathon, a prominent bitcoin mining company listed in North America, has recently partnered with Brink, a fully-donor supported organization, to raise funds for bitcoin core developers, according to the press release.

The collaboration aims to gather up to $1 million in donations to support the crucial work of these developers in maintaining and enhancing the Bitcoin protocol.

BTC core developers play a vital role in the decentralized payment network by maintaining the open-source software that governs the Bitcoin network. They volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the protocol’s smooth functioning and security.

To enable them to continue their valuable contributions, Marathon and Brink have come together to raise funds. Marathon has committed to matching all donations made to Brink, up to $500,000, throughout 2023. The partnership will kick off during the Bitcoin 2023 conference from May 18 to May 21.

During this period, Marathon will match all donations made to Brink on a two-for-one basis, with a maximum donation of $500,000 from Marathon.

Following the conference, from May 22 to December 31, Marathon will continue to match donations on a one-for-one basis, with a maximum donation of $500,000. The total potential contribution to Core developers could reach $1 million when combined with third-party donations.

As per the press release, individuals interested in supporting the development and security of the network can visit a designated link to donate or learn more about Brink and the Marathon match. Brink, as a 501(c)(3) organization, ensures that all donations made to them are tax-deductible.

Marathon’s Chairman and CEO, Fred Thiel, emphasized the significance of Core developers and their voluntary efforts. He stated that their work is essential for the decentralized payment network, and it is in the interest of all Bitcoin users and companies to support them.

Thiel expressed pride in collaborating with Brink, a respected organization that shares its values and effectively supports Bitcoin protocol engineers.

Mike Schmidt, Brink’s co-founder and executive director, expressed gratitude for Marathon’s support and highlighted the unsung heroes behind the Bitcoin ecosystem. He emphasized the dedication and contributions of Core developers, who work tirelessly to enhance the BTC protocol and network security.

Nevertheless, the partnership between Marathon and Brink is a commendable initiative that seeks to foster the growth and stability of the BTC network by supporting the individuals responsible for its maintenance and improvement.
