Bitcoin

Bitcoin price is being closely watched as elevated open interest suggests traders are positioning for the market’s next major move.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $63,010, down 2.73% over the last 24 hours. Despite falling below key technical levels, steady positioning in derivatives and resilient on-chain activity suggest traders are remaining in the market rather than exiting their positions.

Why Is Bitcoin Price Holding Firm Despite the Latest Pullback?

The latest Bitcoin price decline has done little to affect activity in the derivatives market. As traders continue holding their positions, it suggests they are waiting for a clearer market direction rather than reacting to short-term volatility.

What Is the Link Between Rising Bitcoin Open Interest and Trader Confidence?

According to CoinGlass data, Bitcoin open interest has remained in the $48 billion-$50 billion range despite several price swings throughout July. The stability of open interest suggests many traders are maintaining their positions in anticipation of higher volatility rather than reducing their market exposure.

Derivatives trading volume has been mixed, indicating cautious participation rather than aggressive buying. Liquidation data also shows that the largest leverage flushes occurred earlier, while recent liquidation activity has remained relatively modest, suggesting much of the excess leverage has already been removed from the market.

What Does the Bitcoin Price Chart Signal for the Next Move?

According to the TradingView daily chart, Bitcoin price is trading below the 50-day moving average at $63,442 and the 200-day moving average at $71,498, leaving the broader trend under pressure.

A daily close above the 50-day moving average could improve short-term market sentiment, while the 200-day moving average remains the next major resistance level.

Momentum also remains weak, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 44.61, below the neutral 50 mark.

This suggests buying momentum has weakened but has not yet reached oversold territory, leaving room for either a recovery or another move lower depending on market sentiment.

Why Are Analysts Turning Cautious on Bitcoin Price?

Crypto analyst Ted shared a cautious outlook on X, stating that “Bitcoin has lost its daily RSI uptrend,” while warning that “This looks weak and could result in entire rally reversal.”

The post came as Bitcoin’s RSI slipped below the neutral 50 level, reinforcing signs of weakening momentum on the daily chart. Ted also highlighted a Kalshi Crypto prediction market showing a “60% chance Bitcoin hits $50,000 before $100k,” reflecting growing bearish sentiment among some market participants.

However, these views represent market expectations rather than certainty, with Bitcoin’s elevated open interest and stable on-chain activity continuing to provide a more balanced outlook.

Why Are On-Chain Metrics Supporting the Bitcoin Price Outlook?

Despite the recent correction, Bitcoin’s on-chain activity has remained relatively stable. According to the data from DefiLlama, Total value locked (TVL) has stayed close to $4 billion, while active addresses continue to show consistent participation, suggesting users remain engaged despite the recent decline.

Stable on-chain activity provides a stronger foundation during periods of uncertainty because it reflects continued network participation rather than speculative trading alone.

Will Bitcoin Price Break Resistance in August?

Bitcoin’s next move will likely depend on whether buyers can reclaim the 50-day moving average with stronger trading volume. A successful breakout above this level could strengthen short-term momentum and reinforce the confidence already visible in the derivatives market.

On the other hand, failure to hold support around $62,000 could expose Bitcoin to further downside before another recovery attempt develops. For now, elevated open interest, stable on-chain activity, and easing liquidation pressure suggest traders remain focused on the next major market catalyst.
