Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum treasury to 5.85 million ETH, bringing the company closer to its goal of controlling 5% of Ethereum’s total supply. The firm also increased its staking position as ETH surged 30% weekly, highlighting its growing focus on accumulation, staking income, and long-term institutional exposure.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has expanded its Ethereum treasury to 5,847,611 ETH, representing about 4.8% of Ethereum’s 120.7 million ETH supply, bringing the company close to its ambitious “Alchemy of 5%” target.

At $2,440 per ETH, its Ethereum holdings are worth roughly $14.3 billion, while its combined crypto, cash, marketable securities, and “moonshots” holdings total $14.9 billion.

Bitmine Buys 32,447 ETH as Price Surges 30%

The announcement comes as Ethereum records a powerful rebound. ETH gained 30% over the past week, marking its largest weekly increase since May 2025, according to Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee.

He noted that comparable gains occurred in July 2021 and May 2025, after which ETH eventually advanced 167% and 170%, respectively. However, those historical moves do not guarantee another rally.

In the current week, the company has bought another 32,447 ETH, and it has been buying ETH each week from the time it started its treasury strategy on June 30, 2025. According to the supply of the company, it requires about 190,000 more ETH to hit the 5% mark.

Other possible catalysts for Ethereum according to Lee include improved financial conditions, tokenization on Wall Street, and agentic artificial intelligence. Lee feels that these factors will contribute to Ethereum outperforming Bitcoin as blockchain-powered finance becomes more common.

Bitmine Stakes 5M ETH, Targets 5% Supply

Staking is yet another crucial element in the Bitmine strategy. The firm had 5,067,309 ETH staked, valued at around $12.4 billion, which comprised 87% of their holdings in Ethereum. Their MAVAN institutional staking platform yielded 2.67% for Bitmine in the seven days and was expected to earn the company an annual staking income of $330 million.

Bitmine believes that if all the ETH treasury of MAVAN and its partners were staked, then the estimated reward would be approximately $381 million annually. The company plans to extend MAVAN’s services to its own treasury and institutional investors and custodians.

First, it should be noted that the priority at hand is determining the ability of Bitmine to acquire the targeted 5% of Ethereum. The corporation currently holds almost 97% of the required number of tokens, implying that it might get even more powerful in terms of influence on Ethereum’s corporate treasury.

What Happens Next?

The following is another significant factor, which is whether the ETH price will be able to hold on to its recent 30% surge. If institutional adoption, tokenization, and other applications like AI continue to grow stronger in terms of their relevance in blockchain, Bitmine thinks that Ethereum may move into an expansion phase.

For Bitmine, hitting the 5% milestone will be a great achievement. As for Ethereum, the accumulation by a publicly traded treasury could help reinforce the growing importance of ETH both as a reserve currency for corporates and as a digital asset that generates yields.
