BNB Chain

BNB Chain has achieved its key infrastructure goals for the first half of 2026, cutting transaction latency, nearly doubling Binance Smart Chain (BSC) throughput, and outlining plans to further scale the network as competition among high-performance blockchains intensifies.

Compared with January 2026, BSC’s block interval fell from 750 milliseconds to 450 milliseconds, while in-memory finality improved from 1,125 milliseconds to 650 milliseconds. Benchmark throughput also increased from around 2,800 transactions per second (TPS) to approximately 5,200 TPS.

Following the Osaka/Mendel hard fork, the network also reported significantly fewer blockchain reorganizations, improving protocol stability.

BNB Chain Expands AI and Protocol Infrastructure

According to BNB Chain, all the gains noted are attributed to several changes in the protocol that were meant to enhance its effectiveness.

This includes a Block-Level Access List (BAL) that improves execution efficiency, an Incremental Snapshot that enhances the node synchronization process, an EVM SuperInstruction that is meant to reduce execution overheads, and Extended Voting Rules.

The BSC Rust client has now become fully compatible with Reth v2.0. This enabled the client to have certain important features, such as Sparse Trie Cache, Proof V2, and RocksDB. As per the network, these improvements increased the efficiency of the client by two times.

Apart from the core level, the network launched BNB Agent Studio and BNB Agent SDK that allowed for AI agents operating autonomously on-chain while developing their Middleware Payment Protocol (MPP) SDK and enterprise-level privacy frameworks.

BNB Chain Advances Next-Gen Layer-1

In the second half of 2026, the goal of BNB Chain is to double BSC throughput again, with the end objective being the increase in the overall performance by 10x. The following improvements will be made: increased capacity through BEP-675, implementing congestion-tolerant transaction lanes, and dynamic gas pricing.

The firm is working on an innovative Layer-1 blockchain for 100,000+ TPS with a long-term goal of achieving 1 million TPS. The innovation will offer transactions with pre-confirmation under 50 milliseconds, privacy, account abstraction, and transaction streams to reduce latency and prevent front-running.

A testnet is expected to be launched by the end of 2026, while the mainnet would follow in early 2027. Furthermore, the network is exploring post-quantum cryptography and investigating the use of both hybrid models of security and account abstraction.

These steps have been taken with the intent of allowing users to employ quantum-safe security without having to alter their existing wallet addresses.
