BNB Chain has denied any involvement with a meme token reportedly launched by a former employee using a previously created wallet. The company said the wallet was intended only for educational purposes, announced legal action, and reaffirmed that the token has no official connection to its ecosystem.

BNB Chain has claimed that there is no relation whatsoever to the token that was made by one of their employees who formerly worked for the company. According to the company, the creation of this token was not done by them, nor did they authorize the making of the same.

According to the official statement published by BNB Chain on August 1, 2026, the wallet that had been created for this particular token was only meant for the purpose of education. As stated by the company, the ex-employee had saved the seed phrase and launched the token independently using it.

The BNB Chain also made it clear that the project is not officially affiliated with the company, its products, and ecosystem. Moreover, the company informed that it is initiating legal proceedings against the ex-employee and is collaborating with the relevant authorities during the investigation.

There was no mention of the name of the meme token, nor any information about the trading activities, valuation, and success of the project upon launch. Nevertheless, it was confirmed by the company that the meme token is built on the BNB Chain network.

Incident Raises Questions About Wallet Security

The case has demonstrated the significance of managing the credentials of the crypto wallet when employees exit the firm. Firms can block employees’ access to the internal systems. However, it is not the same in the case of the crypto wallet, as everyone who has the seed phrase retains all the powers of the wallet.

In such circumstances, it becomes crucial to discontinue the usage of the crypto wallet and shift the funds to another new address created before the exit of the employee.

No Official Support for the Token

BNB Chain has stated clearly that the meme token has no support, approval, or endorsement from the company. In addition, the company said that the token had no plans for development or association with any partnership of the BNB Chain.

There has been no information about the market data of the token from the company, which indicates that the token was either unnoticed or detected at an early stage.

This is a clear indication by BNB Chain that it views this matter as misuse of its company’s resources and not simply an error. This approach seeks to make a statement to developers, users, and business associates that any misuse of its name or resources without permission will not be tolerated.
