Cardano price is nearing the $0.25 mark after ADA gained 7.55%, while rising OBV and derivatives activity point to stronger market participation. Meanwhile, a PRIME audit has highlighted key gaps in Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem, including liquidity, wallets, bridges and lending infrastructure.

Cardano price is rising along with the growth in market activity, with ADA near the $0.25 mark. At the same time, the latest audit of the blockchain network’s DeFi ecosystem revealed some weaknesses that could influence Cardano’s capability to turn market activity into on-chain activity.

At press time, Cardano price is $0.2451, which means that the currency has gained around 7.55% in price on a daily chart. The gain has made Cardano move up above the resistance line of $0.2249 towards the $0.25 barrier.

Cardano Price Approaches $0.25 Resistance

The chart on TradingView shows that ADA is trading above the Bollinger middle band at around $0.2139 and above the upper band at $0.2383.

An upward break of the upper band suggests that price has gone beyond the average range, even though an upward breakout by itself doesn’t suggest that the rally will continue.

At the same time, the OBV is at about 45.62 billion after having recovered from lower levels seen earlier in September. The upward move in OBV suggests that trading volume has accompanied the recent move in prices.

Hence, the next focus will be $0.25, while the breakout level of $0.2249 may become important should ADA undergo a pullback.

Cardano DeFi Audit Uncovers Weaknesses

The price move coincides with renewed attention on the Cardano DeFi ecosystem following an audit carried out under the PRIME project.

According to AlphaGrowth, the PRIME audit evaluated Cardano in 25 DeFi sectors and uncovered weaknesses in wallets, cross-chain bridges, lending, liquidity, perpetuals, oracles, and other infrastructural segments. The aim of the PRIME project is described as improving protocol readiness, incentives, and on-chain liquidity.

The score for the Cardano audit from the PRIME project recorded in the Cardanians post was 51.3 out of 100. The post states, “Cardano scored 51.3/100 across 25 categories” and says the audit “identified 8 core gaps”, including areas such as bridging, wallets, money markets, concentrated liquidity, and automated liquidity management.

The finding makes for an interesting contrast when analyzing the ADA price performance. Even though the coin has better market momentum, the ecosystem needs to translate infrastructural improvements into greater on-chain activity and liquidity.

Cardano Price and Derivative Participation

According to data presented by CoinGlass, derivatives participation for Cardano is gradually rising. At the current stage, the open interest is close to $520 million, while the trading volume also remains elevated.

The rise in open interest together with an increase in the ADA price could imply that more positions are being opened in the derivatives market. This scenario could also lead to increased market leverage, which would cause rapid price changes to result in liquidations.

From the chart below, it can be seen that there are a number of liquidations coinciding with ADA price fluctuations.

Cardano DeFi Activity as an Important Indicator

Another source of information regarding the dynamics of the ecosystem is provided by DeFiLlama. As seen from the graph below, the current level of Cardano’s TVL is about the mid-$60 million mark. The DEX volume and active-address activity are subject to some fluctuations.

Therefore, ecosystem activity is another important indicator to be considered together with ADA’s price dynamics. PRIME seeks to improve liquidity and DeFi depth in order to achieve significant TVL growth within 12 months.

As far as ADA is concerned, the signals can include such metrics as the approach toward $0.25, the rise in OBV, and increased derivatives activity.

Whether the momentum will turn out to be sustainable will depend on whether market participation is accompanied by stronger underlying DeFi activity and liquidity.
