CoW Swap Front-End Hack Triggers Urgent Shutdown Warning

A security breach has forced users to stay away from CoW Swap. The team behind CoW DAO confirmed that the platform is currently facing a front-end issue. Users have been strongly warned not to interact with the site while investigations are ongoing.

The incident was first detected by Blockaid, whose system flagged the CoW Swap interface as malicious. This alert quickly raised concerns across the crypto community, as front-end attacks often trick users into signing harmful transactions without realizing it.

CoW has confirmed the issue with its swap front-end.

According to official updates, the problem was traced to a DNS hijacking attack that occurred at approximately 14:54 UTC. This type of attack redirects users from the legitimate website to a compromised version controlled by attackers, increasing the risk of fund theft.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the core infrastructure behind CoW Protocol remains unaffected. The backend systems and APIs were not directly compromised, but they have been temporarily paused as a safety measure to prevent any unintended interactions.

How Cow Swap DNS Created a Security Response

The response from CoW DAO has been swift but cautious. By pausing backend operations and issuing a public warning, the team aims to limit potential damage while they work on resolving the issue.

Users are advised to completely avoid visiting or interacting with the CoW Swap website until an official confirmation declares it safe. Even routine actions such as connecting wallets or signing transactions could expose funds during a front-end compromise.

This incident highlights a growing pattern in the crypto space, where attackers increasingly target user interfaces rather than core protocols. These attacks are often more effective because they exploit user trust rather than technical vulnerabilities in the blockchain itself.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on restoring safe access and ensuring that users are protected from any further risk.
