Franklin Templeton 250 Digital Acquisition Forms Franklin Crypto

Franklin Templeton 250 Digital Acquisition

The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition is complete, creating Franklin Crypto as a new active digital asset management division. The unit will serve institutional investors. It brings the full 250 Digital investment team into Franklin Templeton under the completed deal.

Franklin Templeton said the transaction also includes liquid cryptocurrency strategies previously run by Coinfund. The company will fund those strategies in the deal. The new division provides the firm with a separate division to accommodate active crypto portfolios.

Franklin Templeton 250 Digital Acquisition Targets Institutions

Christopher Perkins will be the head of division at Franklin Crypto. Seth Ginns will be the chief investment officer. The group will be working with Tony Pecore from Franklin Templeton Digital Assets.

The division will report to Sandy Kaul, Franklin Templeton’s head of innovation. The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition brings together the previous 250 Digital team and the existing digital asset resources. These resources involve research, portfolio building, and institutional risk monitoring.

Franklin Crypto will be actively managing cryptocurrency strategies for professional clients. The company said the unit will use Franklin Templeton’s global distribution network. It will also benefit from the investment experience of Perkins, Ginns, and the rest of the 250 Digital team.

As of May 31, 2026, Franklin Templeton had $1.78 trillion in assets under management. The company has operations in over 35 countries. That scale provides Franklin Crypto with access to a wide institutional client base.

Franklin Templeton Expands Active Crypto Strategy

The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition comes on the heels of Franklin Templeton’s previous digital asset finance initiatives. Franklin Templeton already had a unit dedicated to research and portfolio design. It has also sought digital asset products via regulatory paths.

The deal signifies a more defined step towards dedicated active crypto management. The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition adds a direct structure for liquid cryptocurrency strategies for the firm. It also embeds crypto investment teams within a massive traditional asset manager.

The launch follows an increased institutional digital asset offering from major financial firms. Franklin Templeton now introduces a market with an active management arm. The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition provides crypto exposure through a proven investment manager.

The Franklin Templeton 250 Digital acquisition will also increase the presence of strategies previously available through Coinfund within a global company. Franklin Templeton said all related investment staff are joining the company. The division begins operations under Franklin Crypto.
