The license enables the firm to offer its regulated digital payment token services and cross-border money transfer services within the Singapore market.
In a Wednesday announcement, Gemini stated that it had received a license to operate as Gemini Digital Payments Singapore, Pte. Ltd. This firm has been recognized in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory as an MPI providing regulated digital payment token services and cross-border money transfer services.

The Gemini Singapore license ensures that the exchange is licensed to conduct these activities under the regulations of Singapore. This will make Gemini more powerful while expanding its business operations in Asia.
Gemini Singapore License Completes Long Regulatory Process
Initially, Gemini obtained in-principle approval from MAS in October 2024, which permitted the firm to proceed further with its plan to conduct business through a local registered entity.
The following year, specifically in April 2025, Gemini started the process of transferring its Singapore clients from Gemini Trust Company to Gemini Digital Payments Singapore.

With the Gemini Singapore License in place, Gemini can proceed with its Singapore operations under an MPI license.

What the Gemini Singapore License Means
MPI licensing enables corporations to offer payment services under regulation without the restrictions that come with payment institution licenses.
Nevertheless, corporations with MPI licensing must adhere to the broader regulatory framework. More regulations by MAS will be imposed due to the fact that bigger payment operations may carry bigger risks.
For Gemini, the Gemini Singapore license is a well-defined regulatory foundation for its payments and digital asset offerings within the nation.
Gemini Builds Its Singapore Presence
Gemini has been providing services to its clients in Singapore since 2020. Currently, Gemini provides various services like crypto spot trading, digital asset custody, and OTC trading.
The co-founder and President of Gemini, Cameron Winklevoss, pointed out that the firm has a strong presence in Singapore, and its CEO, Tyler Winklevoss, termed it a key node for serving both retail and institutional clients.
This comes at a time when Singapore is trying to develop regulations for the digital asset sector. The Gemini Singapore license might prove beneficial to the exchange in expanding its services while operating within a regulated environment.
The approval of the license is not only important from the perspective of the license but also provides Gemini with the necessary base for expansion into the Singapore market and beyond.
