John McAfee, the US presidential candidate has always been an adamant Bitcoin. He previously predicted that Bitcoin will hit $5,00,000 by late 2020 and later responded as “if not, I will eat my dick on national television.”. More so, he also updated and raised his prediction bar to $1 million.
However, he recently took back his words, stating that the prediction was made just to attract new users to the crypto industry. And it successfully worked.
McAfee patches on BTC repeatedly
In his latest tweet on January 29, 2020, the founder of the most popular antivirus software took a U-turn and claimed that the future of Cryptocurrency is on Altcoins. He also surprisingly compared the biggest digital asset with Ford’s Model T car and stated that BTC is an “ancient technology”. He even claimed that ‘Bitcoin is a true Shitcoin’.
Moreover, McAfee praised the extremists who summoned that Altcoins are Shitcoins. Extremists considered Bitcoins superior to Altcoins. However, McAfee criticized BTC saying it as ‘old’ and ‘chunky’. Not just that, he also acknowledged a comment posted by Bitcoin-critic and said: “Bitcoin is the Hotmail of Crypto.”
The followers took a negative approach on Twitter against McAfee
On the tweet posted by McAfee, the community reacted back reprimanding McAfee for the new attitude adopted towards the Bitcoin.
One of the users commented that he made the statement as he is about to participate in the presidential elections scheduled on November 3 this year. The same user also stated that if BTC fails, then Altcoins will hold the same status too.
Another user reportedly made a statement that McAfee has taken a clear U-turn since he is sure and smart enough to judge that his prediction will fail.
However, a few commentators also stated in the comments of the Twitter post made by McAfee that Crypto Baron will now start praising and promoting Altcoins instead of Bitcoins.
McAfee’s connection with Cryptocurrency
As per various tweets, McAfee’s belief in Cryptocurrency was totally emphasized after he launched his “no-restrictions” decentralized exchange, McAfeeDEX. Moreover, this platform runs on Ethereum blockchain. According to John McAfee,
“We have pretty much everything except Bitcoin, which is the big problem.”
Considering the kind of statements McAfee cites, one can sum up with a point that he is very clear that he has a mixed and controversial relationship with the Cryptocurrency space, especially Bitcoin.
