Ripple integrates RLUSD into Cross River Bank’s core banking infrastructure to expand institutional stablecoin payments.
The partnership aims to enable 24/7 settlement, flexible transactions, and broader access to blockchain-based payment services through the XRP Ledger

RLUSD is expanding its role in institutional payments as Ripple partners with Cross River Bank to integrate its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin into the bank’s core banking infrastructure.

This integration is intended to enable businesses to access stablecoin payments, complete settlements at any hour, and move funds between conventional and blockchain-based payment networks.

24/7 RLUSD Settlement Gets a Boost

Cross River’s October 15 announcement states that the integration will bring Ripple USD into its proprietary Core Operating System (COS), with support for transactions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

Thanks to this partnership, fintech companies will be able to access RLUSD through a single API connection, eliminating the need to build their own blockchain infrastructure.

Ripple highlighted the development in its official X post, stating that “RLUSD payments are becoming part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already use.” The company added that the integration would provide “24/7 settlement within payment networks and greater flexibility to settle intraday.”

In What Ways Will the RLUSD Integration Broaden Payment Capabilities?

By combining Cross River’s established banking infrastructure with RLUSD‘s blockchain-based settlement capabilities, the integration connects traditional banking services with blockchain-based payments.

It will offer payment networks another settlement option, enabling issuers and acquirers to handle intraday transactions more flexibly.

Cross River’s platform will facilitate transfers between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, as well as cross-border payments and treasury movements.

Through one banking platform and API connection, businesses will likewise be able to access traditional payment methods such as Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers, wire transfers, and real-time payments.

This arrangement may streamline the way fintech companies integrate stablecoins into their current payment operations. Rather than constructing separate blockchain systems, eligible businesses can access RLUSD through Cross River’s infrastructure.

Adam Goller, Head of Fintech Banking at Cross River, remarked that the partnership would streamline payments by lessening the need for businesses to depend on multiple providers when moving money globally.

Markus Infanger, Senior Vice President at RippleX, likewise stressed the importance of embedding stablecoins within existing banking infrastructure instead of running them as standalone financial systems.

What Is RLUSD, and Why Is the XRP Ledger Significant?

RLUSD is Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, built to maintain a value equal to one U.S. dollar. Its reserves are made up of cash, U.S. Treasury bills, and other cash equivalents, and Ripple supplies regular third-party attestations of its backing.

While XRP’s market price fluctuates with supply and demand, RLUSD is designed to maintain a stable value. That makes it well suited to payment and settlement activities in which businesses require predictable dollar-denominated value.

The blockchain infrastructure underpinning the integration is supplied by the XRP Ledger. According to Cross River’s announcement, XRPL transactions usually finalize in three to five seconds and the network operates around the clock.

By linking RLUSD to Cross River’s established banking platform, the collaboration seeks to bring blockchain-based settlement closer to the financial services that businesses already rely on. Fintech firms dealing with cross-border transactions, merchant payments, and treasury operations may find this especially valuable.

How Does the Partnership Align With Cross River’s Stablecoin Strategy?

The incorporation of RLUSD expands upon Cross River’s prior foray into stablecoin payments. In November 2025, the bank unveiled a stablecoin payments service tied into its real-time core banking system, intended to bridge conventional currency flows and blockchain-based transactions.

That platform was built to enable capabilities including network settlement, merchant payouts, on- and off-ramps, and treasury management. With this newest partnership, RLUSD on the XRP Ledger becomes an additional payment choice within that same infrastructure.

Cross River further noted that it’s market capitalization had exceeded $2.5 billion, with over $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger, underscoring the stablecoin’s expanding footprint in institutional financial services. These figures were reported in the bank’s announcement.

Still, how quickly an impact is felt will hinge on whether fintech companies and payment networks adopt the integration. Cross River indicated that the services are presently offered in only a limited number of states, so access is not yet available everywhere.

What Lies Ahead for Adoption?

This partnership opens another channel for RLUSD to enter established financial infrastructure, which could make stablecoin settlement simpler for companies already using Cross River’s banking services.

The crucial thing to monitor is whether fintech companies start employing the integration for actual payment flows. Wider adoption might show how stablecoins and conventional banking systems can work together without forcing businesses to maintain separate payment infrastructures.

At present, the integration marks a step toward embedding RLUSD within existing banking operations.

How much it ultimately matters will depend on how broadly the service is adopted and whether businesses benefit from quicker settlement and more flexible payment options.
