- Coinbase plans to list PancakeSwap’s $CAKE token (ERC-20 version), broadening access to Ethereum-compatible wallets once pre-listing conditions are met.
- This listing follows eased regulatory pressure after the SEC dropped its lawsuit against Binance, boosting confidence in the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem.
- PancakeSwap remains the dominant DEX on BSC, with $165.3 billion in trading volume in May, representing 93% of the Binance ecosystem’s DEX activity.
Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ: COIN), one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has officially announced plans to list PancakeSwap’s native token, $CAKE, shortly. This move marks a significant milestone for PancakeSwap, as Coinbase’s roadmap now includes the ERC-20 version of CAKE, signaling its intention to expand token accessibility to a broader range of Ethereum-compatible wallets. The listing will be activated once all predetermined pre-listing conditions are fully met.
This impending listing comes at a pivotal moment for the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) ecosystem, where PancakeSwap operates as the dominant decentralized exchange (DEX). The announcement closely follows a major development in the U.S. regulatory landscape: the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently dropped its prolonged lawsuit against Binance and key executives, easing regulatory uncertainty that had clouded the Binance ecosystem’s prospects in the United States.
PancakeSwap’s robust performance has been noteworthy over the past several months. The platform continues to hold its position as the leading DEX on BSC, accounting for a dominant share of trading volume. In May alone, PancakeSwap processed a staggering net trading volume of approximately $165.3 billion, nearly 93% of the total $178.2 billion DEX volume recorded on the Binance ecosystem. This underlines PancakeSwap’s critical role in facilitating decentralized trading on BSC.
$CAKE Eyes $4.3 Target After Coinbase Listing
Following Coinbase’s announcement, the $CAKE token responded positively in the market. On June 4, during the late North American trading session, CAKE edged up by about 1%, trading at roughly $2.44. This uptick reflects growing investor optimism as the token appears poised to break out of a multi-week consolidation phase.

From a technical perspective, $CAKE’s price action on the four-hour chart has formed an ascending triangle pattern since late February 2025, a classic bullish signal. The token has encountered persistent resistance around the $2.87 level, having failed to breach this ceiling in four attempts over the past three months. However, the momentum indicators are turning favorable: the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line is nearing a bullish crossover above the zero line, hinting at a potential rally.
Should $CAKE break through the $2.9 resistance decisively, traders could see a surge toward a short-term target near $4.3. Conversely, failure to sustain above its rising logarithmic trendline could trigger a correction, with prices potentially falling below $2.
With Coinbase’s listing on the horizon, regulatory headwinds easing, and strong on-chain metrics backing PancakeSwap’s leadership in the DEX space, market participants will be watching $CAKE closely. The token’s upcoming performance may well set the tone for BSC’s continued growth and institutional acceptance in 2025.
