The outspoken figure in the crypto community, Ben Armstrong, known as the brash crypto influencer “Bitboy,” announced on Wednesday the cessation of his daily livestream after a tumultuous journey marked by corporate and personal upheaval.
Ben Armstrong, aka Bitboy Crypto, Ceases Daily Show
Armstrong revealed in an emotional video on his personal YouTube channel that the financial burden of producing his daily shows, focused on digital asset trends, had become unsustainable, burning through $25,000 weekly. He disclosed spending approximately “$100,000 a month” on legal expenses amidst a barrage of legal challenges, lamenting, “We’re barely making it out here, guys. We’ve got lawyers coming at me from every angle.”
Once revered for his hard-charging demeanor and rapid-fire discourse on crypto, Armstrong’s meteoric rise as the “Bitboy” vlogger gave way to a swift descent marred by scandal. From 2018 onwards, he captivated audiences with polished videos featuring headlines like “Make IMPOSSIBLE Gains with Bitcoin SUPERCYCLE,” amassing tens of thousands of views from a dedicated following seeking both guidance and entertainment in the realm of crypto trading.
Armstrong’s popularity led him to create his own cryptocurrency, $BEN coin, in mid-2023. However, his association with the BitBoy brand abruptly ended following the launch of the token due to “serious and personal allegations,” as reported by Decrypt. Subsequently, Armstrong initiated legal action against the brand’s parent company, sparking a chain of contentious events.
Among these events was the revelation of Armstrong’s extramarital affair with the CEO of BEN Coin and his arrest during a live stream at the residence of a former business partner—an incident that unfolded amidst the backdrop of his ongoing legal battles and financial strain.
In the wake of these challenges, Armstrong’s decision to halt his daily show underscores the toll exacted by legal disputes and financial pressures, signaling a somber chapter in the tumultuous saga of the once-celebrated crypto influencer known as “Bitboy.”
