ESMA MiCA Register has gotten an important update after the transitional phase of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation in the European Union expired at the start of the week. ESMA included 37 new licenses for Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) on the register, bringing the total number of licensed companies to 280. One of the prominent banks is the Standard Chartered Bank, which acquired its MiCA license on June 25.

Standard Chartered Bank has enhanced its digital asset services in Europe due to its MiCA and EMI licensing, the bank announced on Monday.
EMI licensing enables the banking institution to issue electronic money and payment services apart from its crypto services.
According to Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head of Financing at Standard Chartered, securing both licenses is a significant milestone for its digital assets expansion in Europe.
Further, the bank indicated that the licenses are a continuation of its progress in the field of digital assets, through launching custodial services in Asia and the Middle East. It also pointed out that the licenses will be useful in meeting the increasing demands from its customers in Europe.
Apart from Standard Chartered Bank, the ESMA MiCA Register has also included some popular cryptocurrency firms like digital assets prime broker FalconX, Sygnum Europe, and Ronin EM.
Moreover, the EMTs register now contains CACEIS, a finance company that is a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole.

Cyprus Leads the Latest MiCA Approvals
The highest number of new MiCA approvals was registered in Cyprus, where six new CASP companies were approved.
The same number was obtained by France, Italy, and Malta. The Czech Republic and Spain registered four new companies each, Luxembourg had three, and the Netherlands had two. There was one new crypto company in Germany, Liechtenstein, and Latvia.

These approvals bring the total number of CASPs authorized by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) to 21.
Nevertheless, the German regulator, BaFin, still remains ahead of all other EU authorities with 58 MiCA authorizations approved until now.
ESMA MiCA Register Shows No Changes to ART Issuers
Although the ESMA MiCA Register has grown, with additional crypto companies gaining licenses, ESMA stated that there have been no changes to the ARTs register, which does not feature any issuers yet.
Additionally, the regulator pointed out that there are no changes to the list of non-compliant entities, which continues to comprise 162 companies.
