The Golem Foundation will join the Ethereum Institutional Forum in London on November 12, bringing its experience managing a treasury of more than 100,000 ETH to discussions about Ethereum’s role in institutional finance. The foundation has used staking rewards to finance its operations and support Ethereum ecosystem projects through Octant, offering a practical example of how ETH holdings can generate funding beyond price appreciation.

Golem Foundation Brings Its 100,000 ETH Treasury to London

The Golem Foundation announced its participation as a partner at the upcoming forum, which will bring together financial institutions, asset managers and Ethereum ecosystem participants. The event will examine ETH’s technical roadmap, post-quantum readiness and the infrastructure needed to bring financial activity onchain. Its agenda also includes discussions on institutional asset issuance, custody, settlement and tokenization.

The foundation’s treasury experience provides a concrete case study for those discussions. According to its official project data, Golem had 100,352 ETH staked across 3,136 validators as of October 2026. This scale makes its participation relevant to conversations about how large ETH holders manage assets, generate returns and contribute to the network.

Ethereum Staking Rewards Fund Operations and Public Goods

Golem Foundation began operating its own Ethereum validators in June 2023 rather than relying on an external staking provider. It says staking yield has funded all its operations since that year, while the foundation has retained the underlying treasury principal.

This model demonstrates how staking can create a recurring source of funding without requiring the organization to regularly sell its ETH holdings.

The foundation also channels part of those rewards through Octant, a platform it developed to support community-directed funding. Its official figures report that more than 5,487 ETH has gone to ETH builders and the GLM community, including over 3,649 ETH for public-goods projects.

These figures illustrate how staking income can support open-source development and ecosystem initiatives, although future rewards depend on staking conditions and ETH’s underlying economics.

Forum Agenda Focuses on Institutional Finance on ETH

The Ethereum Institutional Forum’s London agenda spans Ethereum’s technical development and its potential role in financial infrastructure. Sessions include the network’s roadmap, post-quantum security, native issuance and the use of ETH for onchain finance.

These topics reflect the operational and security questions institutions must address before moving financial products and services onto public blockchain infrastructure.

The event is scheduled for November 12 at the Kimpton Fitzroy London and is invitation-only, with attendance available through an application process. The published agenda lists speakers from organizations including BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, Standard Chartered and Broadridge.

Their participation creates an opportunity to discuss how established financial institutions approach ETH-based issuance, custody and settlement, though attendance alone does not confirm any new commercial commitments.

Golem’s Treasury Offers a Model for Long-Term ETH Management

Golem’s approach highlights a distinction between holding ETH as a treasury asset and actively deploying it to support network participation and ecosystem funding.

By operating validators itself, the foundation contributes to Ethereum’s validator infrastructure while retaining direct responsibility for its staking operations. Its use of minority clients, including Nethermind and Nimbus, also reflects an emphasis on client diversity and network resilience.

For institutional treasury managers, the model raises practical questions about staking returns, operational security, liquidity and the purpose of holding digital assets over the long term.

The London forum could provide a setting for these issues to be discussed alongside tokenization and settlement infrastructure. The broader significance is not simply the size of Golem’s treasury, but how staking income can connect ETH ownership with ongoing support for ETH’s development.
