Ethereum Price Eyes $2,500 After Holding Crucial $1,800 Support

What to know:

  • Ethereum (ETH) price continues to hold the key $1,800 support, keeping the broader bullish structure intact despite slowing momentum.
  • Michaël van de Poppe says ETH could reclaim $2,000 and potentially rally toward $2,300–$2,500 if buying pressure strengthens. Michaël van de Poppe
  • RSI remains above 50, but a bearish MACD crossover suggests buyers are losing momentum in the short term.

Ethereum Price

Ethereum price has been managing to hold onto its vital support, despite a growing indication that the buying sentiment has weakened over the past few trading periods. Although it appears as though the bulls are losing steam according to the technicals, the existing price formation could provide the foundation for a push higher.

At the time of writing, ETH is trading at $1,867.5, up 0.55% over the last 24 hours. Ethereum has recorded $19.61 billion in daily trading volume and holds a market capitalization of $225.80 billion, reflecting continued investor interest despite the recent slowdown.

Ethereum Price Eyes Bullish Breakout

On August 5, 2026, crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe identified $1,800 as the critical support level for ETH. He further went on to say that as long as Ether is trading above this level, the market structure will be bullish.

According to Van de Poppe, maintaining such levels would help the Ethereum price return to $2,000, which may extend towards the $2,300 – $2,500 region should the buy side improve.

It comes amid a period in which Ethereum seeks to bounce back from its weakness and garner interest from investors hoping for the next big move.

Technical Indicators Show Momentum Is Cooling

Even though Ethereum continues to trade above the crucial support levels, technical factors indicate that the current rally is likely to be slowing down rather than picking up speed.

Currently, the RSI is sitting at 51.40, with its moving average coming in at 54.63. As the RSI is still holding above the neutral 50 level, buyers are still holding the upper hand. Nonetheless, the indicator is showing some signs of leveling out, which suggests that the latest rally is running out of steam.

Even the MACD is indicating a conservative scenario, with the MACD line at 16.57 lower than the signal line at 26.26 and the histogram staying negative at -9.70. It indicates that the buying momentum has decreased, and the sellers still have an edge despite the lack of heavy sell-off.

Ethereum Outlook Depends on More Than Charts

Ethereum price is not guided solely by the charts. Factors such as the strength of BTC, developments in the cryptoworld, flows from institutions, and market risks all influence the direction of ETH.

The long-term factors include increasing interest of institutions in Ethereum, staking and developments within DeFi, and tokenized assets. At the same time, there are also macroeconomic factors that influence digital assets.

Ethereum Price Awaits Confirmation for Bigger Move

The current state of Ethereum is important since technical indicators and market sentiments are perfectly synchronized. Breaking through $1,800 will preserve the positive market dynamics, although bulls will have to increase buying pressure for Ethereum to exceed $2,000.

In the coming days, we’ll see if Ethereum price is able to hold on to its support levels, build better technicals, and find sufficient buyers for it to move into the next stage of its recovery journey. Any clear breakout above the resistance levels should help improve prospects of $2,300–$2,500 levels, but any breakdown of support should draw our focus to lower levels.
