The Securitize LG CNS Partnership targets South Korea’s growing tokenization market, focusing on tokenized securities, funds, stocks, stablecoins, and digital asset infrastructure as new regulations take shape.

The Securitize LG CNS partnership is a collaboration between the tokenization platform and South Korean tech firm LG CNS to study tokenized securities and digital assets infrastructure as the country sets its regulations on blockchain-based financial instruments.

Securitize shares shot up by 8% in Tuesday’s early trade to reach $12.60 but gave back some of its gains in the rest of the trading day. The stock started trading at the New York Stock Exchange in July when the merger of the firm with SPAC Cantor Equity Partners II was completed.

This Securitize LG CNS partnership takes place in the wake of South Korea’s move towards establishing a new regulatory environment for tokenized securities. South Korea is working on regulations regarding the issuance and trade of tokenized securities, including shares, bonds, funds, and other securities.

Securitize LG CNS Partnership Targets Tokenized Assets

Securitize and LG CNS entered into a memorandum of understanding regarding the possibilities of tokenized assets and digital asset infrastructure for South Korean financial firms.

The two companies will review business prospects that have to do with tokenized funds, stocks, and stablecoins. The companies will also look at possible projects in other parts of the Asia-Pacific region.

For Securitize, the Securitize LG CNS partnership will be the gateway into the South Korean financial sector.

Blockchain initiatives are also being increased by LG CNS. On Tuesday, the company unveiled a blockchain platform aimed at assisting banks and other financial institutions in offering stablecoins and tokenized assets.

South Korea Prepares New Tokenized Securities Rules

The alliance is timely, considering that South Korea’s Financial Services Commission has introduced regulatory guidelines on tokenized securities.

The Financial Services Commission released an outline of regulations for the issuance and trading of tokenized stocks, bonds, funds, and other securities on October 1. The proposed outline is set to become effective on February 4, 2027.

These proposed regulations would offer guidelines to financial institutions for using blockchain technology for the issuance and trading of conventional securities.

Such an evolution of regulations brings relevance to the Securitize LG CNS partnership, as both firms have been looking into developing products or infrastructure that could enable financial institutions under the new regulation.

Tokenized Stocks Become a Larger Market

Securitize is already a well-established player within the tokenized real-world asset space, as their business deals with such assets as US Treasuries and private credits.

Tokenized stocks are becoming increasingly important in the space as well. RWA.xyz data indicate that the value of tokenized stocks amounts to approximately $3.2 billion, an increase of 10.6% compared to the last 30 days.

In turn, the entire tokenized real-world asset space expanded to about $40 billion.

As per a previous statement made by Carlos Domingo, the chief executive of Securitize, the adoption of tokenized stocks would enable the crypto market to be valued at a minimum of $5 trillion. This was stated during ETHConf, which took place in July.

Securitize Expands Its Asia-Pacific Reach

This is another step towards building partnerships with financial institutions outside the US on behalf of the firm.

As the framework for issuing securities is introduced in South Korea, there might be a need for a platform that enables issuance, settlement, and compliance. The partnership with LG CNS makes it possible for Securitize to test the waters in this area.

There has been no official announcement from either entity regarding what products they will be launching and when through this memorandum. The Securitize-LG CNS partnership will be exploring the tokenization of funds, stocks, and stablecoins in anticipation of the new regulatory regime in South Korea.
