SharpLink deployed $400M in ETH via Lido and Ether.fi restaking to generate yield, custodied by Anchorage Digital. With 888,938 ETH held and 27,945 ETH earned from staking, the move signals institutional shift toward productive, yield-generating Ethereum treasuries for public markets and beyond.

SharpLink initially deployed $200 million of liquidity via Lido, Ethereum’s leading liquid staking protocol, in exchange for staked ETH tokens, then locked an additional $200 million in Ether. Fi to the Linea network where it restaked those assets via EigenCloud for earning DeFi protocol incentives and layered yields. Both allocations are held in custody with Anchorage Digital and constitute SharpLink’s first major on-chain deployments.

Deployment and Custody Model

The structure is driven by a combination of scale, liquidity, and yields. Lido offers remaining liquidity and yield compensation to stakers through its wstETH token, which is wrapped staked ETH that can be deployed within DeFi and collects staked ETH rewards.

The combination of Ether. Fi with the Linea deployment and EigenCloud restaking plans will leverage layered returns from restaking service yields as well as ecosystem incentive reward programs on an Ethereum Layer 2. Custody provided by Anchorage Digital is relevant to institutional treasuries for the auditability and operational controls that are important for public-market investors.

SharpLink

SharpLink has reported holding 888,938 ETH as of 3 August 2026 per disclosures used by the investment community. The company said it’s made 27,945 ETH equivalent to about $75 million just from staking rewards alone, meaning it hasn’t bought any ETH. That would put their reported holdings at 893,506 ETH.

Why Productive ETH Treasuries Matter

SharpLink’s decision is part of a trend: the evolution of passive crypto treasuries into productive ETH treasuries. Bitcoin treasury strategies are often focused on accumulation. Ethereum treasuries can chart a different course because the asset enables native yield through staking, liquid staking, and restaking.

This scenario offers a model for generating yield from ETH on the balance sheet while maintaining exposure to Ethereum, while also boosting ETH’s locked in staking and restaking contracts, with possible implications for network security, circulating supply, and DeFi liquidity.

For investors, the yield pays out; but, it also comes with smart contract risk, restaking slashing risk, illiquidity, and counterparty risk. For ecosystem builders and developers, a large share of staking and restaking node operator capital is absorbed by Lido and ether. Fi marking them as de facto institutional infrastructure. For exchanges, liquid staking tokens like wstETH become treasury assets.

Testing Yield Sustainability

This operates for increasing adoption of digital asset treasury models, growing institutional participation in the Ethereum ecosystem via staking products, corporate adoption via new announcements, and infrastructure builds like Layer 2s (Linea). Restaking with providers like EigenCloud rewards stakers by earning additional yield on staked ETH but also introduces additional risk and complexity.

Market participants will be watching for indicators such as SharpLink’s reporting of the yield generated from the new allocations and whether other publicly traded firms choose to follow a similar approach. For SharpLink, upcoming milestones include reporting yield earned from the new pools and potential protocol diversification. For the market more generally, the test is whether yield-centric growth strategies for ETH will prove sustainable relative to accumulation-only strategies.
