Yuga Labs has launched its Mudwater trading card collection on Solana, opening claims for Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) holders on October 17, 2026. The launch expands the company’s digital collectibles ecosystem by combining physical cards, blockchain ownership, and secondary-market trading.

The collection, titled Swamp Origins, features 120 distinct artworks based on familiar Bored Ape imagery. Each card has a physical counterpart and a matching Solana non-fungible token (NFT) held in a vault. The model connects traditional card collecting with blockchain records that represent ownership of digital assets.

Mudwater Collection Features Four Card Tiers
The Mudwater series contains regular, foil, serial, and rare cracked ice versions. Some of the rarest pieces from the collection are eight serial and one of one cracked ice cards. These are limited-edition pieces adding rarity value to the collection, while the diversity of the art pieces provides for more options for collectors to collect and trade.

Claims have been initiated just following the launch announcement, at 23:30-23:35 UTC in conjunction with ApeFest 2026, held in Charleston. The event is Yuga Labs’ annual community gathering. The timing connects the release with the company’s existing collector community while introducing a new format beyond its established NFT collections.
BAYC and MAYC Holders Receive Different Allocations
Eligibility and claim management at Yuga Labs is done via Totems. The project allocated 6,551 Totems to BAYC and MAYC NFT owners. Totems are ERC-6551 token-bound accounts which means that an NFT controls a certain blockchain account. In this regard, Totems serve as a container that receives and manages Mudwater packs.
Every eligible BAYC NFT entitles the holder to 10 packs and every MAYC NFT – to two. Each pack includes 10 cards and there are more than 140,000 packs available to claim. The allocation policy provides for a bigger starting allowance of packs for the owners of BAYC NFTs, but MAYC owners have access to this collection through their NFT holdings as well.
OpenSea Support Expands Mudwater Trading Access
OpenSea’s Solana NFT support provides relevant marketplace context for the launch. On August 31, 2026, OpenSea released an announcement stating that Solana NFTs could be discovered, purchased, and sold among other supported tokens. According to OpenSea, Solana had become the latest blockchain in the company’s list of over 25 supported blockchains.
Mudwater cards, packs, and Totems will be tradable on OpenSea, offering cardholders another means of selling their cards apart from claiming the packs. The marketplace offers a link to the Mudwater collection and NFT marketplace in general, unlike a restricted Solana platform. Nevertheless, marketplace availability does not necessarily ensure demand or liquidity.
Yuga Labs Expands BAYC and MAYC Collectible Ecosystem
In addition, Mudwater associates the process of card-market activities with ApeCoin (APE). According to the planned mechanism, 2.5% of Mudwater’s card trading volumes will be devoted to buying APE tokens that will be allocated among the collectors according to the number of cards owned by them.
The 2.5% allocation refers to the portion of trading volume used for APE purchases, not a guaranteed return for individual holders. The amounts of allocations are defined according to the existing rules, trading activity, and the amount of tokens bought.
Thus, the start of the card game creates a new opportunity for collecting from BAYC and MAYC owners to interact with the ecosystem of Yuga Labs combining physical collections, Solana NFTs, and trading activities on the platform. Further development of the project depends on the actions of collectors and secondary market activity.
