Uber Exec To Spearhead Ripple’s Venture Into Southeast Asian

March 20, 2021 by Sahana Kiran

Former Uber executive, Brooks Entwistle revealed that he was the latest member to join the Ripple family, amidst the platform’s fallout with the SEC.

The ongoing tussle between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission [SEC] of the United States has been showing both Ripple as well as XRP in a bad light. Categorizing XRP as a security depleted the altcoin. Even during the peak of the recent crypto rally, the altcoin barely made any gains. The altcoin also endured a steep fall in terms of market cap. This did not seem to have staggered Ripple’s growth and its latest announcement of on boarding Entwistle to lead their Southeast Asian is substantial proof of the same.

Uber’s Brooks Entwistle Joins The Ripple Team

Ripple revealed that it was moving untethered towards its expansion plans. The Asian market has been pulling in investors from across the globe. Ripple seemed to be jumping on to the bandwagon. In a recent press release, the platform revealed that the chief business officer of Uber was joining as the Managing Director of the Southeast Asian team.

The General Manager of RippleNet, Asheesh Birla addressed the importance of expanding into Southeast Asia. Birla further added,

“Southeast Asia’s payments ecosystem is extremely dynamic with fairly complex, country-specific schemes which require a lot of in-depth knowledge. The adoption of RippleNet among the region’s many fintechs, payments service providers and SMEs makes Southeast Asia our biggest market for both customer demand and transaction growth.”

Speaking about the same, Entwistle from Uber pointed out that he was “thrilled” to be a part of Ripple and intends to elevate the future of finance with Ripple.

Recently, a plea was filed by over 6,000 XRP holders seeking involvement in the Ripple vs SEC case. However, this motion was dismissed. The case seems to have persisted as the parties involved did not want to settle.
